Thank you to all of the parents who joined us!
We want to thank our outstanding PTA Board for all of their support this year. It has been such a pleasure working with each of you. A big shout out to our outgoing PTA president, Katie Cooper. Our Olde Creek community is so thankful for your time and dedication to our school!

The Olde Creek school community is extremely grateful to Mrs. Kaminsky for being an outstanding leader who provided excellent support to our students, staff, and families this spring.

3. Congratulations to our Retirees
This time of year is always hard when we have to say good-bye to some of our amazing staff. We have two staff members retiring this year, who have both had big impacts on Olde Creek over the years. We invite you to join us in wishing them well on their next adventure.
4. Bears Bedtime Stories - June 6
5. Drama Club Performance - June 7
OC Drama Club presents… Rainbow Fish! Tuesday, June 7th at 6:30 PM. Admission is free to our OC community!
Students will have the opportunity to see the performance during the school.

6. Yearbook Delivery
Our yearbooks have arrived and will be distributed to those families that pre-ordered next Wednesday, June 8th.
We have just a few extra yearbooks. If you missed the order deadline you can call the office to be added to the list of those still hoping to purchase a yearbook. The office will reach out to those families on the list for payment if a book becomes available.

7. SOL, Other Scores, and ParentVUE Accounts
We had planned to send home the SOL score reports for our 3rd-6th graders on the last day of school as we typically do; unfortunately, we found out that these will not be available until mid-July. In mid-July, parents will receive a mailing of the SEL screener results. For students who took the WIDA assessment, the results will be in ParentVue Test History by late August.
If your student took SOL tests this spring, you can view their scores in SIS ParentVUE starting on June 8. Use a web browser to log into your SIS ParentVUE account: https://sisparent.fcps.edu. You will find spring SOL test performance levels and overall scores in the Test History section. You will also get an official score report in ParentVUE Documents by the end of July. Don’t have a ParentVUE account? Create one today: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/student-information-system-sis-fcps/sis-parent-account-registration.

8. Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications Due This Summer
For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. The extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year, meaning families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for the 2022-23 school year.
Eligible families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the first day of the 2022-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer and accessible via the FCPS homepage. Watch your email and our website for more information. Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online.
Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes.
Summer Meal Service
No-cost summer meals will be served at all FCPS summer school locations this year. Please visit the FCPS website for updated information during the summer.

11. Family Return to School Survey
We are interested in hearing about how the 2021-22 school year has gone for students. You have an opportunity to provide your feedback on our Family Return to School Survey which you should have received via email.
The survey is being administered by the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which provides objective research and data-based information back to the school division’s leadership. The survey is part of the office’s continuing evaluation of the pandemic’s impact on our school division.
We encourage all Olde Creek parents/caregivers to respond to the survey and share their experiences whether positive or negative. The information you and other families provide will be used, along with other data, to inform FCPS leadership about the return to five days a week of in-person instruction, and support FCPS’ efforts to make improvements that support schools, students, and staff. It will also be included in ESSER III reporting.
12. Health Reminders for Upcoming In-person Events
We recognize that we have seen an increase in COVID cases at Olde Creek, but we want to continue to host our end of year events safely. We need to partner together to follow FCPS and CDC guidelines to minimize the spread.
If you plan to attend any of the upcoming in-person events in our building, please follow the recommended guidelines:
- If you are not feeling well, we ask that you please stay home and not attend. Please review our daily health screening questions prior to coming to Olde Creek.
- Although mask wearing is optional, we strongly encourage all guests to wear a mask while inside of our school.
- While seating is available for audience members, if you feel more comfortable standing up to distance yourself, you are welcome to do so.
13. Talent Shows - June 6
We are thrilled to have our talent shows returning this year in person! Our Bears have been practicing and we're ready to highlight their incredible talents!
For health and safety reasons, we kindly request that only parents of the performers attend the events.

Your students have achieved so much this school year and we are very proud of them. 15. Student Laptop Collection
All Olde Creek student laptops and chargers will be collected at the end of the school year.
- Students will turn in their laptops and chargers during school. Teachers are signing up for a collection time at which point student laptops and chargers will be returned.
- Students attending ESY and Summer programs (SOAR, YS) will keep their laptop and charger to bring with them to their summer program.
- If your student received a laptop sleeve this year, we will not be collecting the sleeve. Students will not be issued another sleeve, so please keep the sleeve and continue to use it next school year. This includes rising 7th graders.
If your laptop or charger is lost, please contact the office and we will send payment instructions. Laptops cost $481 and chargers cost $23. Any device not returned by Monday, June 13 will be considered lost and bills will be issued after that date.

16. Clinic Procedures for End of the Year
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school (June 10th, dismissal at 1:15). Medications left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.
Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services. A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school. Please be sure medication orders are clear. All information on the form must be completed. Part I must be signed and dated by the parent or guardian. Part II must be signed and dated by your physician. Over-the-counter medication given for headache, muscle pain, orthodontic pain, or menstrual cramps and antibiotic or antiviral medication do not need a physician signature. More detailed information is available on the back of the medication authorization form.
Over-the-counter medication must be in the original container and clearly labeled by the parent or guardian. All prescription medication, including physician’s samples, must be labeled by the pharmacist or physician. Please make sure that the label clearly states your student’s name, the name of the medication, the dosage of the medication, and the time interval for administration.
If your child will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, your existing long-term medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
Your cooperation will ensure that we can safely give your student his or her medication. If you have any questions, please contact us.

21. Woodson’s Relay for Life - June 4
Come out and have fun while supporting an important cause! Come to Woodson's Relay for Life!
Relay for Life is a club at WT Woodson HS that partners with the American Cancer Society, a non-profit organization, to raise money to fund cancer research and other ACS programs that help support cancer patients. More information about the club can be found on our club's website (accessible through FCPS email accounts). We spend the year fundraising and planning a large event that takes place at the Pat Cunningham stadium at WT Woodson High School on Saturday, June 4th from 5 pm to 12 am (anyone may come or leave at any time!) Here is our event website on the American Cancer Society!
We plan to have live music, games, challenges, and of course, the luminaria ceremony to remember those we have lost to cancer. We think this is a great opportunity for students from our feeder schools and other members of the community to get involved with: to fundraise for a great cause, interact with students, experience Woodson's clubs, and just have fun!
