Upcoming Events

  • June 10    Last Day of School, two hour early release @ 1:20pm
theme

This year at KPES we were proud to have a Space and Place for each KP Lion; in person, 5 days a week! While this year continued to be impacted by COVID, the learning, fun and friendships continued at Kings Park ES. We were thrilled to bring back our favorite traditions like the kindergarten parade and field days, along with adding the new tradition of welcoming back our Lake Braddock Seniors. As they walked the halls, our hearts were touched as they sang along to the KP school song. It is a testament to the positive relationships and school culture at Kings Park ES. We look forward to what next year will bring (along with our new theme!) and ask you to be on the lookout for summer communications. We wish everyone a happy and healthy summer!

Sincerely,

Dotty Lin and Maura Donahue

*Please note the KPES office will operate on alternate hours of 9am-1pm with reduced staffing. Please call ahead for an appointment as needed.

Medication Pickup Information

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school (June 10, 2022). Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online (please click here.)

If you have any questions, please contact the school health room aide, at (703) 426-7000. Thank you!

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications and Summer Meals

The federal waiver allowing all students to receive free and reduced-price meals is set to expire this summer.

Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced price meals for SY 22-23.

For the past two years, the federal government has provided no-cost meals to all public school students without the need to complete the annual Free and Reduced-Price Meal application.

However, the extension of the no-cost meals benefit to all students is expected to expire at the end of this school year.

I encourage you to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application prior to the first day of the 22-23 school year. The online application will be available later this summer. Watch your email and our website for more information. Learn more about the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program online.

No-cost summer meals will be served at all FCPS summer school locations this year. Please visit the FCPS website for updated information during the summer.

If you have questions about the Free and Reduced-Price Meals program, the additional benefits your child may receive, or no-cost summer meals, please contact our school 703-426-7000. We are happy to help.

KP/KG PTA News

While disappointed we had to cancel our PTA end of year celebration on June 2nd, we are looking forward to rescheduling it in the early fall as a "back to school" event.  Stay tuned for details!

We are looking for two more PTA members to serve on the audit committee in early July.  This is a short-time obligation (just a few hours) one afternoon/evening to help us complete this essential task for the financial year.  If interested, please reach out to kpkgpta@gmail.com

As a reminder, the newly elected PTA board will be getting together in the coming weeks and over the summer to plan the next school year.  If you have any ideas/suggestions or would like to be involved and volunteer in some capacity, please fill out this form or reach out to kpkgpta@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Dotty Lin and Maura Donahue
