Dive into Oceans of Possibilities and explore the depths of your library with FCPL’s Summer Reading Adventure beginning June 10.  This year’s summer reading program offers participants two options: complete reading-and library-related activities or log time spent reading.  Both paths lead to prizes!

FCPL offers four categories of summer reading activities: preschool, school-age, teen and adult.  Finishers in all categories receive coupons for summer treats and activities, including ticket vouchers for a Washington Nationals game, entry to Mount Vernon, outings at Fairfax County Park Authority facilities, and more!  Sign up to participate in the Summer Reading Adventure online or through the Beanstack app.  Or, paper logs will be available at FCPL branches upon request beginning June 10.  FCPL’s Summer Reading Adventure includes both virtual and in-person events for all ages and interests. 7th Grade Immunizations Due Now

inmunization req

Dear Parent/Guardians of Sixth Graders,

The Code of Virginia requires all students to be immunized against certain communicable diseases prior to entrance into Fairfax County Public Schools. Effective July 1, 2021 all students entering 7th grade will be required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to August 22, 2022:  Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), and Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY). If you have not submitted your vaccination record for 7th grade to Teresa Dunbar, please submit documentation before June 10th, 2022. Lake Braddock Middle School prefers to have immunizations for 7th grade submitted to Ravensworth prior to leaving 6th grade. You can scan this documentation to tldunbar1@fcps.edu, or you can request your physician’s office to fax directly to the school at 703-426-3697.  If you have any further questions about this requirement, please reach out to Teresa Dunbar at tldunbar1@fcps.edu or at 703-426-3600. After June 10th, please submit the records to Ms. Angela Santizo at Lake Braddock directly.

Updated Isolation Procedures for Students

FCPSlogo

Since the start of the pandemic, Fairfax County Public Schools has regularly reviewed and adjusted our health and safety guidance in alignment with recommendations from local, state and national health experts.

Please email Mrs. Aspuria and the attendance email if your child tests positive for Covid-19. Your child may return to in-person instruction and activities, including athletics, when your child has met the following criteria:

  • Student has completed at least five days of isolation; AND
  • Student is fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication; AND
  • Student’s symptoms have improved or resolved
  • Student wears a well-fitting mask for 5 additional days (day six through day 10) after the end of the 5-day isolation period, in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance

If students are unable to wear a mask when around others, they are to continue to isolate for a full 10 days at home.

Children who are in isolation will continue to have access to our StreamIn/CheckIn during this time.

The new procedure aligns with the timeline recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD). It also follows improving vaccination rates in the Fairfax Health District, as well as a continued community level of low in Fairfax County.

We continue to balance the need for students to have a high-quality in-person learning experience with student and staff safety. By adhering to our layered prevention strategies and increasing vaccination rates, we are all doing our part to keep schools safe.
