AP Boot Camp

From Monday, July 18 – Wednesday, July 20, McLean High School will hold an AP Boot Camp, for students in grades 10 - 12. The AP Boot Camp will target students about to take an Advanced Placement course for the first time.

AP Boot Camp is an interactive leadership conference where students discuss and practice the qualities required for success in AP classes, college and in the corporate world. This event will focus on developing five attributes: Teamwork, Communication, Organization, Reading, and Problem Solving (T-CORPS). This program is intended to be a hands-on, cooperative team-building program that actively engages students in the development and use of these skills. Boot Camp has four goals:

  • Introduce students to the unique academic challenges of AP coursework.
  • Guide students in skill development with a focus on teamwork, communication, organization, reading, and problem solving
  • Discuss the practical application of these skills inside and outside the classroom
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop a support network with their peers

Interested students can register at this link.

Underclassmen FCPSOn Laptop/Charger Collection

Underclassmen who no longer need their school laptop for finals:

  • Starting on Monday, June 6 and throughout the final exam week, any student that no longer needs access to their school laptop may stop by the Library Reference Room throughout the school day and turn in their school laptop and charger.

Underclassmen who need their school laptop until their last exam:

  • Students will turn in their laptop and charger to their 7th period teacher upon completion of their 7th period exam and before the final dismissal bell on Thursday, June 9

Underclassmen enrolled in online summer courses:

  • Students who are enrolled in an online summer course will be permitted to keep their laptop/charger for the duration of their course. At the conclusion of their summer course, students should return their laptop/charger to the main office. Teachers will be given a list of summer course enrollments prior to June 9th to verify which students will need to keep their devices.

What happens if students fail to turn in their FCPSOn laptop?

Underclassman:  Students and Parents will be notified by the Main Office or Administration that the laptop must be turned in ASAP.  If they keep the laptop over the summer without an approved reason, their laptop will be disabled, making it inoperable for the remainder of the summer.

What happens if students turn in their FCPSOn laptop without a charger?

Underclassman:  Students and Parents will be notified by the Main Office that the charger must be turned in ASAP.  The laptop will be re-imaged and prepared for the next school year, but will not be re-issued until a charger is turned in or payment has been received through MySchoolBucks.

All Night Grad Party - Volunteers Needed!

Please volunteer for The All Night Grad Party sponsored by the PTSA scheduled for June 1 from 9 pm - 1 am at McLean High School. This McLean High School tradition celebrates graduates in a safe, supervised space the night they graduate.  There will be catered food, casino games, prizes ,a photo booth, dancing and even a hypnotist show!  We need many volunteers in the school community to make this event happen.  Please consider signing up to help with set up before the party or volunteer to help at the party.  In the past, parents who did not have a graduate helped with setting up.  Then parents of all grade levels helped out at the party.  Let’s give the class of 2022 a proper send off as they create memories with their class one last time!  Please view the Sign Up Genius to see the volunteer options that appeal to you.
