Dear Kent Gardens' Families,
Knowing that school safety is at the forefront of our minds and hearts, I want to remind our community of the safety measures that we have in place for our students. School safety protocols include the following:
- Classroom doors and exterior doors are kept locked at all times.
- When visitors arrive at Kent Gardens, please do ring our front doorbell, our front office staff will screen them for entry. Please note that if there are other adults entering behind you, please do not hold the door for them.
- We conduct regular safety drills in accordance with FCPS and state mandates. Note that we will have a ROUTINE practice Lock Down drill scheduled for tomorrow. This practice will take place on Tuesday, May 31st at 9:05 a.m. Parents may want to discuss with your child(ren) to advise them that it is merely a practice session. Here is a link to support your discussion.
More information can be found on the FCPS website here, including mental health resources. We take safety very seriously and appreciate your support.

End of Year Medication Pick Up
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time (1:35 PM) on the last day of school June 10, 2022. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.
Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services. A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school.
Questions may be directed to the Kent Gardens' health room, PHN Ramita Rana, rrana1@fcps.edu.
