Seeking Summer Support for Community Families
We are very grateful for all of the generous food donations many families have made throughout the year to support our on-site food pantry, which supports several Lane families struggling with food insecurity. Since the school will be closed during the summer, these families will not have access to our food pantry. Instead, we would like to provide support in the form of grocery store gift cards.
If you would like to contribute, please send the cards you purchase to the school office by the last day of school, June 10th. You can drop them off in person or you can send them to school with your child in an envelope marked to the attention of Mrs. Prahl or Mr. Dickens. Cards from all area grocery stores are welcome, and no amount is too small.
We appreciate your generosity and willingness to support our community during these difficult times!
Parent Input for Class Placement Next Year
We approach the class-placement process carefully and thoroughly at Lane in order to provide the best environment for students. As part of this process, we seek input from both staff and parents. We know many parents are interested in having a role in their child’s class placement, and we welcome the key information you can offer. After all, you have the best overall knowledge of your children and their unique traits.
Please share your thoughts on the needs of your child by answering the questions on this form. Please follow these guidelines.
- Share the qualities of a teacher and classroom environment that would best meet your child’s needs.
- Let us know if you feel that your child should be separated from another student, and we will take that request into consideration. Please remember that best friends do not necessarily belong in the same instructional group.
- PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST A TEACHER BY NAME OR GENDER. Additionally, please do NOT include negative information about past teachers, as the teachers read these forms when assisting with class assignments. If you do, please know it will be deleted.
Because of enrollment changes over the summer, class assignments will not be finalized until the middle of August 2022. Families will be contacted by the assigned teacher before attending Open House in August.
If you are interested in providing input, please complete the form by May 31, 2022.

FCPS is deeply committed to creating a safe and positive school environment where all students can learn. Through school-wide positive behavior approaches and participation in K-12 health and guidance lessons students are taught to behave respectfully and to resolve conflicts in positive ways. A culture of acceptance and creation of safe opportunities to discuss concerns is actively developed through class meetings, interactions, and relationships with caring adults.
Information for parents/guardians on FCPS bullying and harassment prevention and intervention programs has been updated on the FCPS website. It now includes a new video that’s available in Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese as well as English.
