A Note From Mrs. Duffy

We have many events over the last 8 days of school where families will be coming to school to volunteer. We are once again utilizing our electronic check-in system. You will need to bring a driver’s license in order to check-in to our school. Please allow enough time to find parking and check-in to the main office prior to going to your volunteer location. Remember that parking onsite is extremely limited and you will not be able to park on Westchester in front of our school. We look forward to welcoming you during the last few days of the 2021-22 school year!

Medication Pick-Up

Dear Parent or Guardian:

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school.  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student.  However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services.   A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school.  Please be sure medication orders are clear.  All information on the form must be completed.  Part I must be signed and dated by the parent or guardian.  Part II must be signed and dated by your physician.  Over-the-counter medication given for headache, muscle pain, orthodontic pain, or menstrual cramps and antibiotic or anti-viral medication do not need a physician signature.  More detailed information is available on the back of the medication authorization form.

Over-the-counter medication must be in the original container and clearly labeled by the parent or guardian.  All prescription medication, including physician’s samples, must be labeled by the pharmacist or physician.  Please make sure that the label clearly states your student’s name, the name of the medication, the dosage of the medication, and the time interval for administration.

If your child will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, your existing long-term medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program.  Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

Your cooperation will ensure that we can safely give your student his or her medication.  If you have any questions, please contact our public health nurse, Kamira Mollet at Kamira.Mollet@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Thank you for your cooperation and have a good summer.

Student Laptop Collection

Dear Bush Hill Families:

As the end of the school year approaches, we wanted to share with you the procedures related
to the FCPS laptop assigned to your student. We will be collecting all student laptops at the
end of this school year, so that we may complete our inventory and maintenance on our
laptop collection. Students will keep their laptops in school beginning June 1st.

You will have two options for returning the student laptop to the school.

1) Return the laptop at the end of the school year.
a) Students may bring in the laptop and charger in their classroom by June 1st.
b) Prepare your laptop by shutting down the laptop, unplug all mice, power cords,
and usb attachments (including wireless mouse connection)
c) Leave FCPS stickers (bottom or inside of laptops) and business card holders on
the laptop.
d) Remove personal labels/stickers and adhesive from labels/stickers.
e) Shut down the computer. Wipe the laptop down with a Clorox wipe.
f) Wrap your charger.

2) If your student is participating in FCPS Summer Learning programs, you may keep the
laptop and return it at the conclusion of the Summer Learning Session.
Parents/Guardians must fill out the Laptop Request form. Note if you borrowed a laptop
from BHES. It must be returned to BHES.

If your student will no longer be enrolled in Fairfax County Public Schools, you must return the
FCPS laptop by June 10, 2022 per the instructions above.

Please note that we will re-distribute laptops to our students in the fall when our inventory and
maintenance is complete, so your student will be able to use an FCPS laptop again next
year.

Also, if your student currently has a MiFi device for home internet access, and you no longer
need the MiFi device, please return the device to your school. If your student continues to need
the MiFi device for internet access, make a note of this on the summer learning form.
If your laptop charger is lost. Fill out this form and return it to your teacher.
