Dear Clermont Families,

Thank you for trusting me, Mrs. Younger, and the Clermont Staff, with your children each day. The entire Clermont team will continue to uphold any and all safety measures required by FCPS. We continually work with county, state, and federal health, safety, and emergency personnel leaders to ensure coordinated responses to potential threats. We also drill for emergency situations and then review and revise plans as needed. As educators, your children’s safety is our top priority.

Many thanks to all who reached out with words of kindness and compassion this week. Our school staff appreciates your support. I hope you are able to spend time with loved ones and friends over the long weekend.

Warmly,

Ms. Salata, Principal

In Fairfax County Public Schools, three offices play lead roles during critical incidents.

  1. Crisis Management: Leading the immediate and long-term response to the incident itself is the Department of Facilities and Transportation Services' Office of Safety and Security (OSS).
  2. Crisis Communications: Ensuring students, employees, parents, the media, and the community have accurate and timely information during a crisis is the responsibility of the Office of Communication and Community Relations (CCR). CCR is responsible for broadcast of all FCPS emergency messages.
  3. Crisis Intervention Services: Crisis response teams are staffed by school psychologists, school social workers, and school counselors.

FCPS has an established Safety Program (Lockdown Drills): Response contingencies to critical incidents are researched and tested through mandatory drills and functional exercises in all schools and centers. Two lockdown drills are conducted each school year in accordance with Virginia law as part of an FCPS comprehensive options-based approach to responding to potentially violent intruders in the facility or on school grounds. These mandatory drills and other safety training programs are designed for all staff and students to provide for the safest possible school environment.

Medication Pick Up

A graphic of medication bottles

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school, Friday, June 10, 2022.  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room. Your cooperation will ensure that we can safely give your student his or her medication. If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, Tina Buckingham at 703-921-2410.

At the end of the school year all students will be responsible for returning their laptop and charger. When students lose an FCPS provided charger they are responsible for replacing them.
