Monday, May 30 - Memorial Day Holiday, NO SCHOOL
Wednesday, June 1 - Field Day
Friday, June 10 - Last Day of School, Two Hour Early Release
Thursday, June 30 - Last Day to Order School Supplies
Powell Community,
I share in your grief, fear, and frustration about the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday. These events impact us all in personal ways. One thing we all have in common is our condemnation of these senseless acts of violence.
Another thing we have in common is our commitment to keeping our students and staff safe. One of the ways we maintain a safe campus is by keeping our exterior doors in the closed and locked position at all times so that our building remains secure. All visitors are admitted by our office staff and we ask that parents and visitors do not hold the door for others to enter. Please help us by allowing our office staff to screen all visitors and determine who will be admitted.
I count myself fortunate to be part of the Powell ES community and take comfort in knowing that our students have adults they can rely on and whom they can turn to for support. Our students may have questions or may want to discuss these events. We may not have answers, but we can provide the space for students to share their thoughts.
If you or your child would benefit from additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to a member of our clinical team.

We are so excited to be able to bring back field day this year! Our date is set for Wednesday, June 1st! (our rain date is Friday, June 3rd). It will be a day of fun in the sun to bring this awesome school year to an end! Our field day will be split into two groups, grades K-2 will be in the morning and grades 3-6 will be in the afternoon.
This year's festivities include some water activities, so we ask that each student wear a shirt and shorts that are appropriate for getting wet and possibly bring a set of dry clothes and shoes. There are several stations that include running, jumping, etc. so students should also make sure they wear comfortable shoes. We encourage students to bring a water bottle, as they'll be able to fill it up at a few different stations throughout the day.
Any parents that would like to volunteer their time can do so by signing up for an available volunteer spot using the links to the signup genius below.

Hello Colin Powell Families. We love that your children love the library. It was so fun this year working with your kids. However, now is the time we need ALL of our library books returned so that we can organize, inventory, repair and get ready for the next school year. Looking forward to getting them back after the holiday weekend on Tuesday, May 31! Thank you.
