Key MS Students vs Adults Soccer Challenge

The 1st Annual Key MS Soccer Challenge was a huge success. The students, families, and staff that participated had a wonderful time.

The staff came out on top this year, but the boys and girls on the student teams were outstanding players and the competition was intense.

This event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of one of our amazing family members, Claudia Figueredo, and our wonderful parent liaison Monique Borthayre-Dignan.

Thank you so much for your dedication and love for our school community. Key MS is a better place because you are here.

Dear Families and Staff:

Dear Families and Staff:

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is sharing this notification with staff and families for awareness only.

This letter is to inform you that as of this time, 5 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported today at Key Middle School.

FCPS has directed all COVID-19 positive cases to complete their isolation period before returning to school, and our school remains open to other students and staff at this time.

As long as any other students and staff remain symptom-free, they may continue to come to school or work and no further action is required.

If students or staff develop COVID-like illness they should stay home. COVID-19 diagnostic testing for symptomatic students and staff is available at the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) or other community locations. For information regarding isolation and quarantine, please visit the FCHD website for guidance

We all play a part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), COVID-19 vaccinations are effective at protecting people from getting seriously ill due to COVID-19. Visit https://www.vaccines.gov to find locations to receive a vaccination. Additional recommendations to prevent COVID-19 are provided here.

For more information on COVID-19 Supports and Resources, please visit the VDH website

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work through the COVID-19 pandemic together.

Sincerely,

Dr. Aimee J. Holleb

Celebration

Let's Celebrate!

  • TESTING THANKS - from the bottom of our hearts, thanks for ALL the “above and beyond”  that is going into SOL testing, supporting the kids during this time, remediation, and helping the kids de-stress during this testing season.
  • Thank you for the vision, hard work, and dedication of our Theatre Arts teacher, Ashley Promisel. You did a great job for kids as part of the amazing Lion King Jr. production!  And a very special shout out goes to Jackie Lane for her support.
  • Thank you for all the passion and joy in the classrooms that you’ve been implementing/planning to make these last few weeks meaningful for kids in teaching social, emotional, and academics. We appreciate the hands on, critical and creative thinking tasks - where kids are engaged and excited.
  • Thank you Spirit Committee, Daisy Gomes and Char Greene, for your support to all staff during SOL testing! The snacks and coffee sure sweeten our days and lifted our spirits!
  • Shout out to Barbara Kopp and Maureen Holt for National School Nurses Day which was last Wednesday!! Please make the time to thank them for their service - never would they have imagined a global pandemic as part of their work in schools and our county either!
  • Thank you to Tracey Kyle and Josh Barr who have represented us on the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Counsel - and been the liaison with Key Center as well!
