A number of our Eagles have been singled out for Cappies – the student-driven, high school theatre critic and awards program in our region. These students, along with hundred others, will be honored Monday, June 6, 2022, in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall at the annual Cappies Gala.

Witch in Into the Woods. Fellow cast member Campbell Wood, also a senior, was nominated as Best Male Vocalist. Campbell will also perform as one of the Cappies Singers. Sophomore Natalie Laclede will also perform in the awards ceremony as a Spotlight Performer, representing Edison’s Into the Woods production in the opening number of the awards show. Four additional Edison seniors will receive commendations for their creative work in our theatre program this year: Ainsley McClure, Lars Irvin, Melanie Landis, and Dylan Tootle.
Edison High School School is committed to providing our students with a safe and secure learning environment. This school year we have seen a need to reexamine and update some of our practices. Edison is conducting a school-wide pilot of a new application called "e-Hallpass" with our students and teachers with a plan to consider it for implementation school-wide in 2022-2023.
e-Hallpass is an online platform that allows Edison staff to issue hallway passes to students while also monitoring the activity in the school’s hallways. Students are able to access e-Hallpass through their school-issued device using any web browser. Students may request a pass to leave the classroom or an appointment with a staff member (counselor, administrator, clinic team, etc.). Staff are able to automatically approve the passes quickly with limited impact on the instruction of the classroom.
e-Hallpass allows staff to monitor hallway traffic, set limits for the number of students at specific locations, and limit hallway passes. A timer tracks how long a student is out of the classroom and can be monitored by our security team. Staff can receive alerts for students who have not checked in to their destination or have exceeded the time limit of a pass, improving school safety and security while minimizing the disruption to learning in our classrooms.
Edison students will participate in a brief training for e-Hallpass use in their advisory class on Tuesday, May 24. Edison will begin using the application on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, and will continue to use it until the end of this school year.

As you know, COVID-19 cases have been increasing in Fairfax County and in schools. At Edison High School, we have seen an increase in cases and continue to encourage everyone to take the steps necessary to stay safe and healthy.
We will now share daily COVID-19 notifications whenever there is a confirmed positive case in our school.
We appreciate the patience, support, and understanding you have shown throughout this school year as we adjust our response to the pandemic. Together, we have kept our students participating in learning and activities.
Now that FCPS has transitioned back to a more typical school experience, the school division is interested in hearing from parents/caregivers about how the school year has gone for their students. You will have an opportunity to provide your feedback on our Family Return to School Survey which will open Tuesday, May 31, and close Friday, June 10.
The survey is being administered by the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which provides objective research and data-based information to the school division’s leadership. The information you and other families provide will be used, along with other data, to inform FCPS leadership about the return to five days a week of in-person instruction, and support FCPS’ efforts to make improvements. It will also be included in ESSER III reporting.
The All Night Grad Party is Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Read all about it and register at www.edisonangp.com. Price is now $75.00; $90.00 at the door.
Volunteer at the party!
This is such a fun night for seniors, but we need 70+ parents to keep it safe and fun! Please see our volunteer page for opportunities to volunteer. A complicating factor in having adequate volunteer support is that COVID cases are spiking. Holding the party with the number of volunteers we currently have would be a stretch; managing the party without the full number of volunteers will be difficult. We have such a great night planned for the Class of 2022. Please help us by volunteering here - COPY AND PASTE THIS LINK INTO YOUR WEB BROWSER: https://edisonangp.com/volunteer-at-angp
