Little Run News: 5/20/22

Message from Mrs. Durso

It sure has been a busy week as a Roadrunner!

World at Little Run

On Saturday, we had our amazing World at Little Run event, put on by our PTA through a generous grant from the National PTA. Huge kudos to everyone who organized and volunteered at this fabulous celebration of diversity at Little Run. We had delicious authentic food, cultural displays, entertaining performances, and a fashion show.

Our SOL Testing is mostly completed, pending a few retakes and make-ups. Thank you to Ms. Vaughn and Ms. Quigley who orchestrated a successful test season. Our Roadrunners worked so hard and demonstrated so much growth this school year - we couldn’t be more proud of their development and resiliency this school year!

Welcome Ms. Yarn!

grad walk

Senior Grad Walk

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022 we will have our senior grad walk. This is when seniors who attended Little Run ES are invited to walk the hallways and be cheered on by our staff and students. We are so proud of former students’ hard work in reaching this milestone accomplishment. Seniors should meet outside near the front entrance in their cap and gown at 2:15 PM. Parents of graduating seniors are welcome to come take pictures of this special event.

common sense

Common Sense Media

Little Run has just been approved as a Common Sense School, an honor that recognizes our efforts in teaching digital citizenship to young people and engaging the entire school community in this important discussion.

Digital media and technology are evolving at a dizzying pace, both unlocking extraordinary opportunities and posing real risks for young people. Students are using the immense power of the internet and mobile technology to explore, connect, create, and learn in ways never before imagined, both in and out of the classroom. At the same time, tech use can bring up ethical challenges such as cyberbullying and misinformation and health issues related to media balance and social and emotional well-being.

Little Run sees these as teachable moments. We believe that digital citizenship skills have become essential for students in the 21st century, especially this school year. That's why we are committed to teaching our students how to be digital learners, leaders, and citizens.

Donation kits are needed for all grades so if you have the means to donate a kit, there are students who would really appreciate your generosity!
