CareerDay

Volunteers Needed: 6th Grade Career Day

Forestville’s annual 6th Grade Career Day will take place on Friday, June 3rd. The tentative time for this event is 2:00-3:30pm. In order to make this event memorable for our 6th graders, we are looking for volunteers to serve as our Career Day presenters. Presenters will need to prepare a 15-minute presentation that focuses on how the presenter became interested in their career and the responsibilities involved with that career.

Please email Sophie Biggar (sabiggar@fcps.edu) if you are interested in participating. Thank you!

Books

A note from our Librarian

As the end of the year is rapidly approaching, a gentle reminder that all library books are due no later than Friday, May 27. Each year, Miss Ciullo is required to complete an inventory of the library, which is why books are due before the end of school. Please be sure to check your homes and encourage students to check backpacks and their classrooms for all library materials. If you have concerns about missing books, please email Miss Ciullo at kate.ciullo@fcps.edu . Thank you!

iPopAward

Each year an FCPS committee organizes awards and recognition of community preschool teaching teams, administration, and centers who have provided a welcoming environment to children with disabilities and families at their school.

This week, Mr. Washington was awarded the award for Exemplary FCPS Administrator for inclusive opportunities for preschoolers! Mr. Washington is dedicated to ensuring that our preschool students have equitable access to resources at Forestville such as participation in specials (art, music, library, PE), and are included in school events! Thank you Mr. Washington, for being an inclusive leader at Forestville.

End of Year Celebration Reminder

Forestville Elementary School is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all students. As you know, many children are at risk of having serious reactions to certain foods. Whole-class treats are not permitted to be distributed for birthdays, class parties, etc.  Students may each bring their own treats for classroom celebrations. Together, parents, families, and the school can keep the environment safe, healthy, and happy for everyone. We are committed to allowing all of our students to participate in celebratory activities while maintaining a safe environment for all. Thank you for your understanding and support in ensuring the safety and health of our Forestville Elementary students.

ChangeinTransportation

Change in Transportation?

If you would like to report a change in your child's method of transportation for the day please use our online "Change in Transportation" form. This type of reporting streamlines the process. Go to the Forestville website, scroll down, and click on the orange box labeled "change in transportation form."  You can also find the form here. As a reminder there are still no guest riders on busses for this school year.

HealthRoom

School Medication Update

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school June 10, 2022.  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services.   A medication authorization form is required for any medication, prescription or over-the-counter, to be kept at school.
