Strings Concert 2022

Strings Concert 2022

Students in grades 4-6 performed in their first ever in-person Strings concert and it was amazing! Our Lions have grown as musicians and demonstrated their talent and hard work on Thursday, May 19th. Click here for the video link of their outstanding performance for their peers and here for the news feature on our website. All students at LTES were able to enjoy this concert either in-person or through live-stream.

Many thanks to Ms. Solis and Ms. Sgrecci for their work with students and to our families for providing our Lions with the space to practice and make beautiful music.

COVID-19 Update

Do Your Part - Hold Up

As you know, COVID-19 cases have been increasing in Fairfax County and in schools. Here at London Towne, we have seen an increase in cases and continue to encourage everyone to take the steps they feel necessary to stay safe and healthy.

We continue to be transparent about how the pandemic is impacting LTES and our students this year and will continue to share daily COVID-19 notifications whenever there is a confirmed positive case in our school. This information is provided to make our school community aware of the current situation and be able to make informed decisions about how to protect themselves. If your little one is not feeling well, please keep them at home and check in with your medical professional before sending them back to school.

We appreciate the patience, support, and understanding you have shown throughout this school year as we adjust our response to the pandemic. Together, we have kept our students participating in learning and in-person activities. We look forward to celebrating the end of the school year with everyone.

If you have questions, please contact Ms. Padmore, Ms. Moore, or Ms. Vigil at 703-227-5400.

FCPS' Family Return to School Survey Is Coming Soon

Now that FCPS has transitioned back to a more typical school experience, the school division is interested in hearing from parents/caregivers about how the school year has gone for their students. You will have an opportunity to provide your feedback on our Family Return to School Survey which will open Tuesday, May 31, and close Friday, June 10.

The survey is being administered by the FCPS Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which provides objective research and data-based information back to the school division’s leadership. The survey is part of the office’s continuing evaluation of the pandemic’s impact on our school division. We encourage all FCPS parents/caregivers to respond to the survey and share their experiences whether positive or negative. The information you and other families provide will be used, along with other data, to inform FCPS leadership about the return to five days a week of in-person instruction, and support FCPS’ efforts to make improvements that support schools, students, and staff. It will also be included in ESSER III reporting.

As a reminder at London Towne, we have used ESSER III funding to:

  • Purchase resources that will enhance reading, math, and wellness instruction for all grades (Lexia, Do the Math, Mind Up, decodable text, etc.)
  • Purchase resources, pay staff, and provide transportation for after-school academic intervention and wellness opportunities for students (Power Hour)
  • Provide professional learning opportunities to staff
  • Hire additional staff to provide academic & wellness intervention opportunities during the school day
  • Plan, provide resources for, and host family engagement events. Join us on June 1st during the Boosterthon to participate in one of these opportunity for families.

LTES Bingo Night, 2022!

Bingo Night Fun

Bingo Fun Around the Towne

Many thanks to our PTA for sponsoring Bingo Night last week. It was a great evening for all that attended. Special thanks also to the Forshey family for organizing this fun event and to Sra. Niccoli, guest Bingo Caller.

A Farmer's Life Around the Towne

Come and check out the new garden tower that has been set up in the London Towne courtyard! Ms. H-H, school social worker, and Ms. Selena, her student intern, from Westfields HS were busy setting it up and planting seeds for seedlings. In a few days we will have sprouts and roots and will be able to transfer the pods to the garden tower. This garden tower has been seen at other FCPS schools and is now at London Towne! Soon we will have gourmet lettuce, bibb lettuce, rainbow chard, arugula, and basil.

Come see the pods and garden tower and make sure you look with only your eyes!
