Weyanoke Update for May 18, 2022

Photo of outdoor learning space

We are excited to announce that the new outdoor classroom is officially opened for learning! This new space provides flexible seating for students, a whiteboard for teachers to guide learning and display cases to showcase student work and scientific investigation. The space also provides teachers and students new outdoor tools and resources like microscopes, magnify glasses, binoculars, a weather station, and bird feeders.

This new space will allow students a chance to interact with hands on natural and environmental sciences. “Learning outside connects students to nature, helps develop a sense of place, improves health and wellbeing, and improves focus. It also supports all Portrait of a Graduate attributes.” (Quote from FCPS Get2Green).

LAST General PTA Meeting of the year is tomorrow!

Come and meet Mason District School Board Representative, Dr. Ricardy Anderson. She is joining us at the meeting. She will be speaking about the new Superintendent and Students Rights & Responsibilities.  There will be plenty of time to ask your own questions.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to meet Dr. Anderson and speak with her about what’s important to Weyanoke families.

It’s also the last meeting of the year, and we’ll be discussing how PTA activities went throughout the year, ways to improve, and getting thoughts for Fun Night and the upcoming school year.

There will be a Spanish translator, snacks, and games for your children, please feel free to bring them along!

Save the date: June 3rd

The PTA may be in need of a new Treasurer this upcoming school year.
