TONIGHT: Buddies Club Presents LUAU PROM

Buddy Club
  • What: Buddies Club Luau Prom
  • When: May 20th from 7-9pm
  • Where: WSHS Spartan Park
  • Who is invited?: EVERYONE

Buddies Club Luau Prom will be on May 20th from 7-9pm at WSHS Spartan Park (vicinity Door #10, near cafeteria). This is an inclusive event for the entire West Springfield High School community! It doesn’t matter if a student has never attended a Buddies Club event, everyone is encouraged to come and have fun.

In an abundance of caution, we have moved the event outside, but attendees will have use of the building for bathroom breaks. To ensure equity, we are offering a "drive-through" experience so participants can pick up a goodie-bag. As well, we invite our drive-through attendees to park for a minute and take a picture at the photo-booth. This will be available prior to the event start at 6:15 - 6:45pm.

This year’s theme is “Luau” but attendees are encouraged to dress in whatever makes them most comfortable, meaning anything from Hawaiian shirts to black tie. Music, dancing, games, and food are all part of the fun. Prizes including gift cards and a set of Nats tickets will be raffled off! It will be a night to remember and a great way to celebrate the end of the school year!

Spring Advisory Council

Spring Advisory Council

Student Services is inviting Spartan families to participate in the end of year Spring Advisory Council. The Advisory Council gathers feedback from students, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders about our Student Services Department program to ensure continuous improvement.

The meeting will be held in-person on Wednesday May 25th, 2:30 - 3:30pm in the Career Center. We are seeking participants representing the diversity of our school community, inclusive of students and parents / guardians from each grade level. Interested persons should register at this LINK

Health Room Notice

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that prescription medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian; prescription medication cannot be sent home with your student. Students may, however, transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room with parental permission. Parents with questions or who want to make inquires should contact our School Health Aide at (703) 913-3810.

FCPS INFORMATION

COVID

Do Your Part

FCPS has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases recently as the county has transitioned to the medium community level. Schools continue to apply layered prevention strategies to maintain a healthy work and learning environment. However, each of us has a responsibility to do our part to help keep ourselves, and our students safe. As we enter the final weeks of the school year, let's stay vigilant so we can all enjoy the events and milestones ahead and be ready for a relaxing and healthy summer.

Easy ways to “Do Your Part” include: staying up to date on vaccinations and boosters, considering when and where to choose to mask up, practicing good hygiene, and monitoring symptoms daily.

It is increasingly important to keep your students at home if they feel unwell and testing is a critical strategy to slow transmission. Visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for information about COVID testing and testing sites. At-home testing is also a good option. Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order a third round of free at-home COVID tests; visit COVID.gov for details.

Calendar Reminder
