Spring Hill ES Panther Press

A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Spring Hill Families,

Another busy week with SOL testing. We send our appreciation to Ms. Briggs and Ms. Allen for the many hours of behind the scenes preparation that go into testing. Kudos to the teachers and students for all their hard work preparing for and participating in these assessments.

Next week, third, fifth and sixth graders finish up their exams as well as make-ups and re-takes (schedule below).

Have a wonderful weekend!

Laptop Collection

It's that time of year! Laptops need to be collected before the end of the school year. ALL laptops and power adapters need to be turned into your child's teacher by Friday, June 3rd. Students will not take laptops home over the last weekend of school. Students may keep their laptop cases to be used again next school year. Please note that items not returned or lost will be billed for the cost to replace them ($472 laptop / $28 power adapter).

Students attending ESY will be able to keep their laptops. If your child falls into this category, please reach out to our TSSPEC, Jose Heredia-Serrano (jlherediaser@fcps.edu), to make an appointment to return the laptop when ESY is finished.

Science Olympiad Information Night

Fourth and fifth-grade parents please join us on May 25th at 7 PM in the cafeteria to hear how your child can be part of this great opportunity.

Class Placement Input for 2022-2023 Due May 20

Every Spring, administration begins collaborating with classroom teachers to form next year's grade level classes. We would like you to assist us in determining class placement by sharing your insights about your child using this google form.  The information will go directly to our Administrators and will be shared with teachers during the placement process.

Our staff will use this information to work on tentative class groupings in June, with classroom assignments finalized in early August as the school year approaches. Please submit the electronic form no later than Friday, May 20th.

Thank you for your continued trust in our school and for working together to create the most successful environment for your child(ren) at Spring Hill.

Spring Health and Safety

FCPS has seen a recent increase in COVID-19 cases and outbreaks and we understand families and staff have concerns and questions. Our commitment is to provide students with the education and support to help them succeed while maintaining a safe environment for in-person learning.

Our layered prevention strategies have served us well throughout this school year, and are fully supported by the U.S. Department of Education and Northern Virginia Health Departments.

Vaccinations are available for school-age children five and up and are proven to reduce the severity of illness. Everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated or boosted.

Currently, masks are optional for all students, staff, and visitors. We encourage families and staff to consider wearing a mask when reports of COVID cases are high or if they or a family member is at high risk. CDC advises individuals to wear a mask when there is a lot of COVID in your community. See a full list of masking recommendations on the CDC website.

The most up to date information is available on the Health and Safety Guidance Document webpage
