Mr. Kettler and our students are putting the final touches on our school mural!
Dear Woodburn Families,
It was another great week at Woodburn. As you might have noticed when reading your child's interim, we remain focused on learning and providing enriching experiences for all students. Our teachers are introducing new content, reinforcing previously learned skills, and completing final assessments to measure student progress across the content areas.
Below you will find the parent input for class placement form. The deadline to submit this form is next Friday, May 20. We value your input and review your comments when we engage in class placement meetings.
Lastly, we are excited to share an updated photo of our mural. Mr. Kettler and our wildcats are putting the final touches on this incredible piece of artwork. This piece represents our community and what we value. We look forward to revealing the completed mural at our upcoming arts integration event.

2022-2023 Parent Input for Class Placement
We are starting to work on our plans for the 2022-2023 school year! Class placements are an essential component of learning and building community. If you have information that you would like us to consider as we determine placements, please share your input by answering a few questions listed below. We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Please do not request specific teachers, as this does not take into account the many variables we must take into consideration. It is far more valuable to share particular academic or behavioral information.
Completion of this form is optional. If you would like to provide input, you may use this online form; print, complete and email to Katy Richman (kjrichman@fcps.edu); or a hard copy may be sent to the office by May 20, 2022. This is a hard deadline. Please know that input from forms turned in over the summer are difficult to honor since the grouping process has already started.

Join us for the Fun Run on May 20th!
For the Fun Run we set up fundraising teams by grade and the teams are named after positivity traits. Each grade is identified as a team and the grade that raises the most funds will receive an ice cream party. The teams are below.
- K-Bravery
- 1-Enthusiasm
- 2-Kindness
- 3-Purpose
- 4-Gratitude
- 5- Integrity
- 6- Leadership
Grade 3 - Team Purpose is in the lead! Kinders - Team Enthusiasm is not far behind and Grade 3 - Team Purpose is coming in third in fundraising for the Fun Run!
Want to get in on the fun? Enter your runner's name into our fundraising platform and share their page with your family and friend to raise funds for the Woodburn PTA. So far, we’ve raised almost $3,100! These dollars will fund school field trips, teacher appreciation and classroom grants, and social events.
It’s one week until the run, so don’t delay! Please reach out to your friends and family to ask for their support. Please note, while fundraising is appreciated, it is NOT required and all *Wildcats* are welcome and encouraged to participate in this free event.
Transportation will be available: picking up at Fairmont Gardens at 5:15 and returning later that evening at about 7:00.
We hope to see you on the field, all laced up, and ready to run! Go Wildcats!
We need volunteers for the Wildcat Fun Run
Please sign up here.
Health & Safety Reminders
Vaccination Status
You may wish to voluntarily share your child’s COVID-19 vaccination information. However, we do not require your child’s vaccination information and no school employee will ask for your child’s vaccination status.
If you would like to provide us with your child’s vaccination status, please bring your child’s COVID-19 vaccination card or a photocopy of the card to Ms. Garcia, our student registrar in the main office.
Monitoring Your Child's Health
Please continue to you use the FCPS health screening questionnaire to monitor your child's health each day. This will support our efforts to keep all students and staff as safe as possible. If your child has Covid-like symptoms at school, you will be asked to pick them up immediately.
Please use the health screening questionnaire to screen your child for Covid-19 symptoms before sending them to school each day.
Where to Find a Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine
FCPS is encouraging all parents whose children are eligible to get vaccinated. We know that vaccination is the way out of this pandemic, and we are asking you to help us continue to make our schools as safe as they possibly can be.
The Fairfax County Health Department’s webpage has resources for finding and scheduling a vaccine appointment. Up-to-date information about vaccination opportunities is available on the FCPS website.
