Principal's Message

In a continued effort to share information with all of our community, last week we listed all of the staff members that are leaving us this year. Next week we are excited to share a list of staff that will be joining us for next school year to date. While we are not yet in a position to share teacher assignments, we will share that information as soon as final decisions can be made.

Also, as we shared with you previously, we were unhappy with the quality of the class photos that were taken this spring and sold by Lifetouch. We reached out to them and they have enhanced the class photos to improve the quality. If you paid for a class photo this year, you will be receiving a new and improved class photo and reprints of individual photos at no additional cost. Thank you for your patience and we hope you will be better satisfied.

National School Nurse Day

May 11

Today is a day to recognize the many contributions that school nurses make to student health and learning.  The theme for this year is: School Nurse Day: Bridging Healthcare and Education.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) appreciates the role of School Public Health Nurses (PHNs) for their contribution to the health and welfare of all our students. Professional school nurses support the needs of students through their delivery of healthcare, contributions to local school communities and promotion of safety, prevention, and wellness throughout the year.  They are advocates who bridge healthcare and education by supporting student health and readiness to learn.  School nurses are essential to our community and work tirelessly to make a positive impact in the lives of their students.

Please join us in thanking the PHNs for their hard work and dedication to FCPS students.  Resources for celebrating National School Nurse Day may be found at: National School Nurse Association: https://www.nasn.org/advocacy/school-nurse-day

Meet Fairview's School Nurses!

Ms. Abate

Ms.Tehitena Abate is Fairview's new Public Health Nurse!  She graduated from Marymount University of Nursing school and has worked at Inova Fairfax Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, and private agencies. Ms. Abate has always been passionate about helping people.  In her free time she loves listening to music, traveling, and reading.

Erin Malonson

Ms. Erin Malonson chose to become a School Health Aide because it combines her passion for early childhood development with her interest in medical and public health. Ms. Malonson is an FCPS graduate (K-12!) and happy that her own kids have had the opportunity to attend the elementary school she attended. Ms. Malonson loves all things outdoors (especially creepy crawlies!) and spends as much time in nature as possible. Her favorite places to visit include New England and the PNW for the amazing scenery and hiking.
