Thank YOU

On behalf of the entire Silverbrook Seahawk staff we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for how well you showed your appreciation to us during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. A shoutout to our fabulous PTO president Ms. Sandy Anderson for your leadership in organizing this special week for our staff.

Mindful Monday Recap

This past Monday, Reina and Leila from Mrs. Goldstrom's 5th grade class led students into a count-down to calm.  The opportunity to listen attentively and be in the present moment was a huge success!  Slowly breathing and feeling sensations move through our bodies, releasing the overwhelmingness of the things happening around us, and bringing direct awareness of our senses contributed a powerful start to a busy week.

Thank you Reina and Leila!

One of our important tasks as the end of the school year approaches is to determine class placements for the following year. The school staff works collaboratively to plan teacher and student assignments. A variety of factors such as student personalities, friendships, gender and academics are considered as we create new classes.

Silverbrook families have an option to assist in placements by providing insights about their child(ren). Please note the following restrictions:

  • We will not accept requests for specific teachers. This includes hints to referencing teachers or emailing your child’s teacher with a request directly. Please include characteristics of a teacher that would be a good fit for your child(ren).
  • Input must be submitted by the deadline, Friday, May 20 to be considered. We will not accept late requests, as we need time to process and confer with grade level teams.
  • We cannot guarantee friend requests. While it’s helpful for us to share some names of close friends, we defer to the placement team on placements and cannot guarantee friend requests.
  • Keep in mind that placement decisions are made with your student and their individual strengths in mind. We purpose to create classes that are as balanced as possible considering what we know about the students we serve.

The deadline for any correspondence regarding the upcoming school year (2022-2023) is Friday, May 20 via our Google form.
