Updated Isolation Procedures for Students Effective May 1st

fcps

Since the start of the pandemic, Fairfax County Public Schools has regularly reviewed and adjusted our health and safety guidance in alignment with recommendations from local, state and national health experts.

As a result, FCPS will be changing current isolation procedures for students who have tested positive for COVID-19. Beginning May 1, 2022, your child may return to in-person instruction and activities, including athletics, when your child has met the following criteria:

  • Student has completed at least five days of isolation; AND
  • Student is fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication; AND
  • Student’s symptoms have improved or resolved
  • Student wears a well-fitting mask for 5 additional days (day six through day 10) after the end of the 5-day isolation period, in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance

If students are unable to wear a mask when around others, they are to continue to isolate for a full 10 days at home.

Children who are in isolation will continue to have access to our StreamIn/CheckIn during this time.

The new procedure aligns with the timeline recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD). It also follows improving vaccination rates in the Fairfax Health District, as well as a continued community level of low in Fairfax County.

We continue to balance the need for students to have a high-quality in-person learning experience with student and staff safety. By adhering to our layered prevention strategies and increasing vaccination rates, we are all doing our part to keep schools safe.

Positivity Project

leadeship

This strength means that you value each member of your group and inspire people to do their best. Leadership can be both formal and informal. It is concerned with getting others to do what needs to be done while maintaining group morale to ensure readiness to act in the future. This character strength’s focus is on the personal qualities of leaders, rather than the practice of leadership. These qualities include the ability to understand others and inspire them toward a common goal, the capacity to mitigate conflict and mold consensus, and the desire to lead other people.

PTA Executive Board Needs a Secretary & Communications Director for 2022-2023

The PTA Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for positions on the PTA Executive Board for the 2022-2023 school year! We are in need of a Secretary and a Communications Director or Team. If you, or someone you know, are interested in volunteering for open board positions, please contact the nominations committee at nominationsravenspta@gmail.com

Current Board Officers are happy to answer any questions & assist getting you started. Our nomination committee will be present at the meeting on Monday, April 11 and we will be taking nominations until May.

Elections will take place at our June meeting. While all positions accept nominations each year per the PTA bylaws, we must have a nomination for secretary. As of right now, we do not have a secretary for next year and we must fill this position in order to have a PTA at Ravensworth.

The job of Secretary involves keeping records of the bylaws, attending monthly meetings, taking notes and minutes at meetings and uploading them to Memberhub, as well as any other tasks that are asked of you to help the board as a team. We work closely together and the work is always delegated evenly, if not done together. Lastly, helping organize events and attending events to help them run smoothly.

Communications Director is the person (or team of people) who put out our weekly PTA newsletter, post to our PTA social media and Memberhub.

If you are interested in helping out in other ways or have new ideas for 2022-2023, please let us know. There are several beloved programs & projects that need volunteers and/or a chairperson. Thank you for considering the gift of your time to keep our Ravensworth community strong! #RavensWorth.
