Congratulations to our Students
Please join us in congratulating the Island Creek Elementary Band and String students who participated in the District 10 Solo and Ensemble Festival at Holmes Middle School.
The students performed solos and duets in front of a judge who gave them comments and a score. We are excited to announce that all the Island Creek Elementary students who participated earned a Superior or Excellent rating which are the highest scores!
Important Immunizations Required For Rising 7th Grade Students
The Code of Virginia requires all students to be immunized against certain communicable diseases prior to entrance into Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).
Effective July 1, 2021, all students entering 7th grade will be required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), and Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY).
Seventh grade students cannot begin school in August without proper Tdap and Meningococcal documentation.
Please provide one of the following documents to Island Creek Elementary School as soon as possible:
- An updated immunization record showing that the student has received the missing immunization(s).
- A note on a healthcare provider’s letterhead stating the date the vaccine(s) was given.
- A healthcare provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption.
- A notarized Religious Exemption Form which is available online at: Certificate of Religious Exemption.
Immunizations are available from your student's healthcare provider or the Fairfax County Health Department. The Health Department clinic locations and hours are available online here or by calling 703-246-2411.

Did you know that registering early helps prevent overcrowded classrooms? REGISTER NOW!
Virginia law requires that all children who will reach their 5th birthday on or before September 30, 2022, must be enrolled in kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year, unless the parent or guardian notifies the school in writing that they do not wish the child to attend school until the following year.
If you have a child who will attend kindergarten at Island Creek Elementary next year, and you have not already registered them, please contact Theresa Painter at: tepainter@fcps.edu.
Please spread the word to your neighbors who don’t already have a child at Island Creek. Have neighbors with rising kindergarteners complete the online intake form, call the office at 571-642-6302 or email Theresa Painter at tepainter@fcps.edu.
* If your student currently attends Island Creek, you do not need to re-register for the coming year.
