Streaming Options for Class of 2022 Graduation

Due to increasing interest from our senior class families, our administration is currently looking into options to stream the Class of 2022 Graduation Ceremony. We will provide appropriate updates as these services are secured, and the associated links to view the ceremony on the Class of 2022 webpage


Notice of Payment Protocol Change

West Springfield High School will no longer accept checks for payment of activities or obligations through the end of this school year.

Parents and families should make any payments due to the school via MySchoolBucks, money order or cash.

End of Year Testing Dates

Spartan Students Selected for 2022 All-Virginia Band, Orchestra, and Chorus

Performing Arts

Fifteen students from West Springfield were named to the 2022 All-Virginia Band, Chorus, and Orchestra. These students performed with other premier musicians from across the state April 20-23.

Students from throughout Virginia went through a rigorous audition process to compete for spots in the band, chorus, and orchestra. Students selected for these ensembles rehearsed with nationally recognized conductors to prepare for their performances.

The orchestra and band concert was held in the Ferguson Center Concert Hall at Christopher Newport University on Saturday, April 23. More information about the event is available online

The All-Virginia Choruses performed at JR Tucker High School in Henrico on Saturday, April 23. More information about the 2022 All-Virginia Chorus is available online

Learner’s Permit Tests at West Springfield HS

Driver's Education

When: 3:10pm - specific dates below

Where: Room 2225

Cost: $20

2nd Semester Dates:

  • May 12 and 26
  • June 2

Who can take the test: Students MUST be 15 years and 6 months old by the day of the test

  • This test is for Fairfax County Public School students ONLY (FCPS ID is required). 
  • If you have had two unsuccessful attempts at passing this test, then you are required to test at the DMV for your third attempt.

Please read the instructions below carefully as you must sign up in 2 different places…

How to Register:

  1. Visit FCPS ACE and sign up for a specific date: aceclasses.fcps.edu
  2. Once registered on the FCPS ACE site, you must also register with the DMV HERE  in order to test. This link will also be provided on your confirmation email from ACE.  
    • Only complete the required fields (i.e., leave “customer number” blank)
    • DMV registration must be done at least four hours before the test start time. Failure to register with the DMV will result in not being able to test since they issue the secure testing codes to FCPS proctors. 

The following are required to the take the test. Bring them with you on your test day:

  • Completed, and signed DTS 41 consent form. The form is available at http://www.dmvnow.com/webdoc/pdf/dts41.pdf.
  • A picture ID to verify identity. If the student does not have a picture ID, take a picture, write the student's full legal name under the picture, and have a teacher sign to verify the student's identity.  You may also show your photo from SIS.
  • Earbuds/headphones to listen to directions and test audio.

Buddy Club Presents... LUAU PROM!! 

Buddy Club
  • What: Buddies Club Luau Prom
  • When: May 20th from 7-9pm
  • Where: WSHS Cafeteria
  • Who is invited?: EVERYONE

Buddies Club Luau Prom will be on May 20th from 7-9pm at WSHS in the Cafeteria. This is an inclusive event for the entire West Springfield High School community! It doesn’t matter if a student has never attended a Buddies Club event, everyone is encouraged to come and have fun.

This year’s theme is “Luau” but attendees are encouraged to dress in whatever makes them most comfortable, meaning anything from Hawaiian shirts to black tie. Music, dancing, games, and food are all part of the fun. Prizes including gift cards and a set of Nats tickets will be raffled off! It will be a night to remember and a great way to celebrate the end of the school year!

WSHS Athletic Boosters

Volunteer at the WSHS Concession Stand at Districts!

West Springfield is hosting Districts for Girls Lacrosse, Track, Softball, Baseball and Soccer! Please come out and help! Volunteer at the WSHS Concession stand at Districts! For four days in May! 

Funds raised during concessions will go to starting a new WSHS Athletic Grant program. All parents and students are welcome (students will earn volunteer 2X hours) We can't do this without your help & support!

It takes a lot of dedication and hard work for these Senior student-athletes to do with they do on the fields of friendly strife. It also takes supportive family to get these young student-athletics to their senior year. Congratulations both to our Spartan athletics and their families as they celebrate Senior Nights and recognize their years of contribution to our athletic program. Great job all around!

Athletic Training Annual Physical Night - June 9

Annual High School Physical Night

The Athletic Training Annual Physical night is scheduled for June 9, at Lake Braddock High School. All proceeds ($50 per student) go to the West Springfield Athletic Training Program. This is our only fundraiser for the year and is the only way our program receives funds to purchase supplies for the student athletes.

Senior Dues

Senior Dues

All seniors are required to pay Senior Dues, which are $75 this year. Senior Dues cover: 

  • Cap and gown 
  • Diploma and diploma cover 
  • Graduation venue and setup expenses 
  • Senior picnic and t-shirt

Payment Instructions: 

Payment by Credit Card or ACH

Payment can be made by credit card or ACH on MySchoolBucks. After logging into MSB, go to the School Store and select Browse All Items. Find Class of 2022 Senior Dues and click View Details. Select your Student from the dropdown menu and click Add to Basket. Continue to your Cart and Checkout

Payment by Check

Families who would like to pay by check, please make the check payable to "West Springfield High School" and include your student's full name on the memo line. Seniors paying with a check can drop their payment off to Ms. Halstead in Room 1220 during LS4 only.  

NOTE: Students will not receive their cap and gown until their Senior Dues have been paid, all financial obligations have been cleared, and they have returned their laptop and charger.

Seniors who would like to participate in our Pyramid Grad Walks should sign up using this Google Form (must be logged into your fcpsschools.net account). The Pyramid Grad Walks will be on Friday, May 27 after cap and gown distribution. More details can be found in the Google Form.

...are needed to chaperone the ANGP. We have over 40 open slots that must be filled. St. James staff will be present in all locations to facilitate games. All Spartan families, relatives, and older siblings welcome! It’s a great opportunity for Class of 2023 parents to shadow.

Class of 2023 Parents!

Jiffy Lube Live is the All Night Grad Party 2023 largest fundraiser.

The Class of 2023 needs an additional 40 volunteers to staff 28 concerts between May and
October. Volunteer at 4 concerts to earn a FREE Class of 2023 ANGP ticket or 6 concerts to also earn a FREE Prom ticket. 

Customer Service training must be completed before May 15th in order to volunteer. Training is in person at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow. Remaining training date is 5/15. Everyone signed up for a concert must be signed up for training.

Team Training is virtual. Volunteers who completed Team Training in 2020 and 2021 are exempt from Team Training. Link will be emailed to volunteers separately.


WSHS ANGP BOOSTER ORGANIZATION OFFICER ELECTIONS

The ANGP Steering Committee is seeking volunteers to fill the following Class of 2023 Board positions:

  • President
  • VP-Activities
  • VP-Fundraising
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

Voting will take place at the June ANGP meeting.

Planning and fundraising for the ANGP starts during the summer. Without these roles filled the Class of 2023 ANGP will lag. Volunteer now so you can shadow the current board members and chairs. See descriptions of each role HERE.

The opioid epidemic continues to impact the Northern Virginia region and the nation. Just last week, two youth fatally overdosed in Prince William County after taking what preliminarily appear to be fentanyl-laced Percocet’s (official causes of death are pending toxicology results).

Alcohol Education Presentation

Hosted by the Fairfax Prevention Coalition

The Fairfax Prevention Coalition (FPC) will be hosting an Alcohol Education Presentation on May 11, 2022. Our FCPS Substance Abuse Prevention Specialists will be presenting on some important information on youth and alcohol misuse. The presentation will take place during the next Fairfax Prevention Coalition meeting, on May 11th at 1pm, virtually.
