WEEK OF 4/25/22
IMPORTANT INFO & EVENTS
JMHS End of Year Calendar
Seniors | Service Hours Due April 25
- Service Learning Hours MUST be entered in x2VOL by April 25, 2022 IF you plan to receive credit and get the black service learning cord to wear at graduation. Info here in Schoology for students and also on the JMHS website here. As a reminder, service hours are NOT a requirement to graduate.
- Civics Seal Information was recently posted to Schoology. Details are here in Schoology for students and here for parents/guardians. Hours must be entered by April 25 to receive credit and application due May 1.
Seniors | Senior Survey
- This week in Advisory seniors will be completing their Senior Survey. This important survey must be completed by May 13. For additional assistance, students may view the directions here (parents, please access survey information here). An email was sent out on April 21 to all senior families about the Senior Survey.
Warhawk Time
- Beginning April 28, students will be given 9 minutes to travel to their final destination for Warhawk Time after Advisory. Students must either stay in their advisory location, travel to another classroom or the cafeteria and remain there from 10:30-11:16. There will be SOL and AP testing throughout the building so students are not permitted to change locations after 10:30.
Spring SOLs
- SOLs begin this week for seniors in need of a verified credit for graduation and on April 28 & 29 English 11 and AP Lang students will take the Reading SOL.
- Students should check their FCPS email frequently for important information about testing.
- Specific dates for SOL testing can be found on the Madison website.
- Only FCPS devices can be used for SOL testing. Students who have opted-out of a FCPS device will be provided a loaner computer the day of testing. Please make sure your student’s FCPS device is being brought to school on a regular basis so it can get the necessary updates prior to testing.
- Questions about SOLs? Please contact your child’s counselor or our assessment coach, Jennifer Frate at jlfrate@fcps.edu.
AP Testing
- AP Testing begins next week, May 2 (Madison’s AP Testing Calendar). Students and parents should review their AP exam schedule email with locations sent last week. Please also take time to view our AP Student Information. If there are any questions or concerns, please reach out to your school counselor or AP Coordinator, Ms. Anderson (abanderson@fcps.edu).
Summer Volunteer Opportunities for Students:
National Honor Society Interest Meeting
- On Wednesday, April 27, National Honor Society will have an information and interest meeting for all eligible (3.50 GPA or above) current sophomores and juniors after school in the cafeteria. The meeting will begin at 3:15 and last until no later than 4:15. Students do not need to sign up in advance. Attendance will be taken at the meeting and it is not required that students attend in order to be eligible to apply in the fall. End of Year Medication Pick Up
- The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school June 10, 2022. Medications left in the health room after that time will be discarded. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.
- Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services
