Class of 2022:

We are less than a month away from graduation and want to continue to provide you with important information that will assist you in preparing and planning for the end of the school year. 

We are excited to announce that Dr. Sarah Eqab, Senior Administrator and Assistant Principal at Annandale High School, has been selected as the graduation speaker by the Class of 2022 Officers.  

Dr. Eqab has received her PhD in Education from George Mason University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Bachelor’s degree in English. Before joining Annandale High School in 2020, Dr. Eqab worked for the Office of ESOL Services in FCPS and was formerly an ESOL teacher in FCPS and PWCS. In addition being an Assistant Principal, she is also an adjunct professor at George Mason University and teaches courses in teacher preparation. Dr. Eqab resides in Herndon, VA with her husband and two children.

For the latest information, check out the “Senior Page” on the AHS Student Portal to keep you posted on the all of the end-of-year activities and graduation information. This page will be updated if/when we receive new information. Note: You must be signed in to your FCPS Google account to access the Student Portal. 

In addition, we have also posted this information on the school website for your parents to access.

Below are tasks that need to be completed as soon as possible, important dates with descriptions of each event, additional opportunities related to the end of the year activities and a senior calendar.

Do It Now!

Pay Senior Dues - $50: Senior dues, which cover cap and gown, diploma covers, and the senior gift, are $50. Please log on to myschoolbucks.com to pay your senior dues by May 20. When you pay via myschoolbucks.com, be sure to enter your height in the appropriate field for gown measurements for graduation. Here are instructions for students on how to access MySchoolBucks.com. If you have any questions, please email Jeremy DeBoe at jddeboe@fcps.edu.

 

Complete Senior Survey (if absent): Each year, every senior is required to complete the Senior Survey. This is how Student Services celebrates the decisions of our graduates and ensures we have information on where to send final transcripts. If you were absent from your senior English class on May 2 & 3 to fill out your Senior Survey, please set up an appointment to meet with your counselor or Mr. Yeagley. Mr. Yeagley will also be available during all lunch periods starting May 11. Please come to his office in room 103 to complete the survey during your lunch period. Note: It is required that all seniors complete the survey by May 20. Seniors who have not completed the survey will be unable to pick up their cap and gown for graduation. Purchase Prom Tickets: Prom will be on May 20 from 8:00-11:00pm at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria. Students are able to purchase tickets beginning Monday, April 11 via MySchoolBucks.com for $25 per ticket. Each student may buy up to 2 tickets. No tickets will be sold at the door. If students would like to bring a guest who doesn’t attend Annandale High School, they must fill out a form from the Athletics Office and return it to John Ellenberger for approval. Students should not purchase tickets until your form is approved. No middle school students or guests 21 or older will be permitted. IMPORTANT: Students must pay their senior obligations before purchasing a prom ticket. Students will not be allowed to enter prom if they have outstanding obligations. 

 

Purchase All Night Grad Party Tickets: Annandale High School’s All Night Grad Celebration is June 2 from 11:00pm-5:00am at Audrey Moore Rec Center!  Tickets are on sale now through May 30. Upcoming Senior Events

May 18-24 - Senior Exams: Senior Exams will be held on May 18-24. Note: There are no senior exams on Friday, May 20 due to prom later that evening. See below for the detailed senior exam schedule:

May 18-21 - Senior Laptop and Book Collection: Beginning Wednesday, May 18, students who no longer need their FCPS issued laptop can return it at the Main Gym Lobby after each senior exam block. Once students have turned in their laptop and any school-issued books or supplies, they are dismissed from school. 

 

May 20 - Senior Prom, 8-11pm: Prom will be on May 20 from 8:00-11:00pm at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria. May 24 - Senior Picnic, 9:35-11:00am: Immediately following the W2 exam, seniors will be released from their last day of school at 9:35am. Members of the class of 2022 will gather in the Senior parking lot or Ossian Park to enjoy a light breakfast, and sign yearbooks. The event will end at 11:00am.

 

May 24 - PTSA Senior Reflections, 7pm: The PTSA will be hosting Senior Reflections in the auditorium on May 24 at 7:00pm. The ceremony celebrates the many gifts that your class will take into the world beyond high school. Students can sing a song, perform a dance, play a musical instrument, or read a poem or an inspirational reading. Students may also speak about their journey to, through, or beyond Annandale High School. Stay tuned for more information on how to sign up! May 25 - Senior Sunset: Senior Sunset will take place on May 25 at 8:00pm. Students are encouraged to come watch the sunset on the football field with music, drinks, and food to celebrate the last day of their senior year.

 

May 26 - Future College Athlete Ceremony: The Activities Office will be hosting a ceremony for our future college athletes on May 26 at 8:30am in Clausen Hall to honor our student athletes who will be continuing their athletic career in college. Parents, teachers, and coaches will also be invited to honor and recognize the hard work and dedication of our athletes. May 26 - Senior Awards Ceremony: Our annual Senior Awards Ceremony will be held on May 26 from 10:00-11:00am at Annandale High School. This ceremony provides us an opportunity to recognize seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in each content area, as well as celebrate those seniors who have been selected for community based awards and scholarships. We will provide more details as we get closer to the ceremony and will be communicating directly with the students and families of our award recipients. May 27 - Senior Obligations & Cap and Gown Distribution: Seniors must pay all outstanding obligations, including Senior Dues, prior to receiving their cap and gown. Financial obligations can be paid online via myschoolbucks.com, by using the myschoolbucks mobile app, or in person on May 27. Here are instructions on how to access MySchoolBucks.com. All senior obligations must be paid before picking up their cap and gown. If you have any questions, please email Jeremy DeBoe, Finance Technician, at jddeboe@fcps.edu.

Students can pick up their cap and gown and senior gift on May 27 during their assigned times listed below.

  • 10:00-11:00am - Last names A-L
  • 11:30-12:30pm - Last names M-Z

Students enter through Door 11, at the front of the building, to the upper gym where they will turn in all equipment and supplies and pay any obligations in order to become eligible to graduate. 

 

May 30-31 - Senior Photo Op: Seniors will have the opportunity to take pictures with their families in front of the school in their cap and gown prior to graduation! Sign up here.

 

May 31 - Graduation Rehearsal, 10:00-11:00am or 11:30-12:30pm: Graduation rehearsal will be held on the Annandale High School stadium field. Seniors who choose to participate in the Graduation Ceremony must attend graduation rehearsal. Seniors who choose to participate in the Graduation Ceremony must attend graduation rehearsal during their assigned times below. 

  • 10:00-11:00am - Last names A-L
  • 11:30-12:30pm - Last names M-Z

Students should meet on the home side stadium bleachers where they will receive information about the ceremony.

 

June 1 (Rain Date June 2) - Graduation Ceremony: We are excited that this year’s graduation ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 9:00am at Annandale High School on our stadium field! Students should arrive by 7:30am. All ticketed guests must arrive by 8:20am and in their seats by 8:55am. The ceremony will begin at 9:00am. For those without tickets, the ceremony can be live streamed at tinyurl.com/Annandale2022. Copies of the recording are also available for purchase.

Opportunities

Yearbooks Have Arrived! Yearbooks arrived early this year, so Seniors can pick up or purchase their yearbooks after school on Friday, May 13 at the front entrance (Door 1). If you pre-ordered your yearbook, make sure to bring an ID with you when picking up. Please note that all yearbooks must be picked up; they will not be delivered. If you have questions, contact Ms. Hanneman, the yearbook adviser.

Yearbooks are $85 and can be purchased online at  www.yearbookforever.com or in cash at distribution. 

 

Purchase Graduation Announcements: Interested in purchasing graduation announcements and other graduation related items? Go to our Jostens School Store and pick up everything you need to celebrate this milestone.

 

Save Your Google Drive Data: Attention seniors! FCPS Google Apps account is automatically disabled upon graduation. All files will be deleted in early August. Therefore, it is important that all of your data is downloaded from your Google Drive before graduation. Here’s how.

 

Purchase a ‘Congratulations! Graduate’ Yard Sign: The Annandale PTSA is selling ‘Congratulations! Graduate yard signs once again this year! Yard signs are $15 for pickup or $20 delivered to your yard. All proceeds help to fund the four (4) Annandale High School PTSA Scholarships. Stay tuned for more information on how to order online! Parent Assistance Needed! Get Involved Today!

Proctors for IB Exams Needed! The IB exams will be held now through May 20 and we are in need of assistance to proctor the exams. Volunteers are needed to walk around the testing room and monitor students. No special training is needed. Each testing room will have at least one experienced proctor that will be in charge of administering the test. We just need additional adult supervision. Dress casually with comfortable shoes! Chaperone Prom: The Class of 2022 is seeking parent volunteers to chaperone Prom. Annandale’s Prom is on Friday, May 20 from 8pm - 11pm at the Torpedo Factory, 105 N Union St, Alexandria, VA.  This is a great time to celebrate the Class of 2022 in a fun location!
