Dear Bee Families,

It’s hard to believe that the end of the year is almost here and that we are already planning for the 22-23 school year.  Each year our teachers work together to create classrooms built on the idea that students learn from each other’s strengths. This mindset is a driving force as we build heterogeneous classrooms that support each child’s learning needs.

Again this year, we ask for your input about the learning environment your child will learn best in next year. Please consider providing your input by May 27, 2022, so that the information can be processed before class building.

Parent Input Class Placements 2022-2023 – Español

Please note that we do not take direct teacher requests. Instead, we ask that you describe the attributes that will support your child best. For example, do they enjoy higher structure, or do they thrive with more independent choices? Do they prefer a quieter learning environment, or do they work best in high-energy environments?

We have much to celebrate over the last couple of weeks! A special thank you to Ms. Bryant and Mr. Falkey for all of their hard work on our 25th Career Fair. It was one to remember and we are so thankful to the parents for participating and the PTA for providing food. We also held our Advanced Academics Local Level 4 Orientation. Thank you to all of the families who attended and thank you to Mrs. Perez and Mrs. Snyder for translating and Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Baker for an informative night.

Our community is so generous. We got a generous cash donation from Heritage Fellowship Church. We are so grateful for their generosity. The FCPS Foundation, the Town of Herndon, and the PTA have also given our students outrageous love. Due to their amazing gifts, we will be able to install a playground for our students who are in our Enhanced Autism classrooms and our Pre-Kindergarten students. We are feeling the love!

Lastly, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday, 1-3pm, as we celebrate our 60th anniversary! Dr. Brabrand and Mrs. Elaine Tholan are scheduled to attend. We will also officially open our new outdoor learning spaces. Make sure your bee comes to our celebration on Sunday in their new red 60th-anniversary t-shirt.

As always, we are a team. Please reach out with any questions or celebrations you may have.

See you at the party on Sunday!

Warmly,

Candace J. Hunstad           Elizabeth Baxter                  Yaara Crane

Our 25th Annual Career Day was a HUGE success!  The kids loved it!  We would like to thank our counselors Ms. Bryant and Mr. Falkey who work extremely hard to make this happen for our students year after year.  Ms. Bryant has been doing this for the past 25 years!  Thank you to our participants for taking time out of their busy days to share their careers with us and our PTA, staff, and volunteers for all of their support.
