AP/IB and SOL Testing Dates

The end of the year is quickly approaching, which means that IB/AP and SOL testing is right around the corner.

IB/AP TESTING – IB/AP tests will be administered between April 28th and May 20th. Tests are scheduled to start at either 8:10am or 11:50am.

SOL TESTING – SOL tests will be administered between May 10th and May 19th. Students will be emailed individualized test schedules (which includes testing dates, locations and times) to their @fcpsschools.net Gmail accounts. In order to accommodate testing space and staff proctoring, we are adjusting the bell schedule for the entire school on May 17th, May 18th, and May 19th to hold AM and PM testing sessions.  On these days, there will only be two class periods per day.  We are currently in the process of finalizing the bell schedule.

Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist for the Mt. Vernon Pyramid Schools

Hello MVHS Community,

I am Beth Mohaupt, the Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist for the Mt. Vernon pyramid schools. I can be reached at ejmohaupt@fcps.edu with any questions regarding substances or substance use concerns. We have a few events that are happening over the next couple of weeks:

DEA Drug Take Back Event

Saturday, April 29th is National Drug Take Back Day. Bring your unused medications (over the counter and prescriptions) for proper disposal. Mt. Vernon Police Department is hosting the event from 10am-2pm for the MVHS area, but other drop sites are also available in the county. I will be there providing information and support for the event, so stop by and say hi (don’t forget to bring your unused meds!).  The flyer for the Drug Take Back Event and sites can be found here

FCPS and Fairfax County Government Partnering to Provide Substance Abuse Webinars on April 20, 26, 28

Due to the rise in opioid overdoses in the Fairfax Health District (which is consistent with national and state trends), Fairfax County Public Schools has partnered with Fairfax County Government to provide educational webinars on youth substance use trends and supports. The free webinars are scheduled for April 20, April 26, and April 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Each of the three webinars will provide the same information.

The topics to be covered include:

  • Most commonly used substances.
  • In-depth opioid information.
  • Reasons why youth use substances.
  • Ways parents can support their children.
  • Available FCPS and Fairfax County Resources.
  • Ways students, parents, and community members can connect with support providers.

Registration for the webinars is available online
