Welcome Emily Texdahl - New SBTS:
We were very excited to welcome our new School Based Technology Specilaist this week (pictured below) to the Ram Family!!!
Hi! I’m Emily Texdahl, and I’m the new School-Based Technology Specialist here at Rocky Run. I’m excited to be here working with the amazing Rocky Run community, and I look forward to getting to know our students and families. Before coming to Rocky Run, I taught chemistry at South Lakes High School for twelve years, and was involved with our academic interventions and technology teams. I love finding new ways to enhance student learning with technology, and am consistently impressed by all of the innovative ways that our students use tech tools! When I’m not at Rocky Run, I’m spending time with my husband and two small children in nearby Herndon.
Sign up to help: Staff Appreciation Week - May 2-6:
Our PTA Hospitality Committee will be hosting a week long Snack Bar for our amazing Teachers and Staff. The event will be hosted throughout Staff Appreciation Week, May 2-6, 2022. Please show your appreciation for our RRMS staff by signing up to help here.
As always I appreciate your input, feedback and questions. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at any time.

Celebrations in our Community:
Orthodox Good Friday (April 22):
Today we recognize those in our community observing Good Friday. Orthodox Christians commemorate Good Friday, also known as “Great Friday” to remember the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. The Orthodox Easter dates usually differ from the dates used by western churches because most Orthodox churches retained some version of the Julian calendar, which is older than the Gregorian calendar, commonly used today.
Last Day of Passover (April 23): Chag Sameach to all in our community celebrating Passover! Many Jewish communities mark the last day of Passover as the end of a holiday that celebrates the deliverance of Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. Passover is also known as Pesah, Pesach, or the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Many Jewish families in the United States eat a ceremonial meal known as the Seder, which involves telling the story of the exodus from Egypt as well as eating various symbolic foods, such as meat of the paschal lamb and bitter herbs, recalling the harsh life of slavery

Program Surveys -
Below is a link for a quick survey about the Middle School After-School Program. The survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. The survey is an important component of the after-school program evaluation and is critical for future funding. The more responses we receive, the more valuable and reliable the data. The responses not only allow us to assess the impact of the after-school program but they help drive program improvement and program quality. This Survey has been approved by the FCPS Internal Survey Review Committee. Seal Approval Number 22224.
Over 90% of our students participated in the after-school program this school year, with over 21,000 occurrences of students staying after-school. Thank you for your continued support of the Middle School After-School Program!
Survey window April 18-22, 2022. All survey responses are due by April 22, 2022.
