Principal's Message

This week we have been celebrating Staff Appreciation Week. Thank you to our amazing PTA and families for making the Fairview staff feel so valued! If you would like to share with the FCPS community ways a staff member has gone above and beyond for your child or the school community, please consider taking a few moments to submit an FCPS Cares form. As teacher shortages increase across the US, retaining and attracting the best teachers at Fairview is critical for providing the best learning environment for our FVES children. Thank you for helping to make Fairview a great school where teachers want to call home.

On the heels of our Staff Appreciation Week, 3-6 grade classrooms are preparing for our state Standards of Learning tests in the coming weeks in math and reading, as well as science for our 5th grade students. Some strategies we always suggest to influence performance include getting a good night’s sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and wearing comfortable clothing. All tests will begin promptly at 9:30 in the morning on assigned testing days and students will not be able to enter the classroom once testing begins. Please inform your child’s teacher if they will be absent on a test day so we can ensure they are on the makeup list.

Lastly, over the past few weeks there has been a significant increase in the amount of inappropriate and offensive language being used in school in what they believe is in jest and in anger particularly in the fifth and sixth grades toward one another. We greatly need your support and ask that parents have a conversation about your expectations for appropriate language here at school, at home, and when using electronic devices. Thank you for partnering with us to provide a comfortable, safe, and welcoming atmosphere at Fairview.

Trashion Show

Trashion Show April 29

Back by popular demand, students and staff will again have a chance to strut their upcycled stuff on a real runway on Friday, April 29th.

Start saving those old newspapers, don’t throw away those water bottles! Your used chip bags and cereal boxes could be transformed into the next big thing on the Fairview runway! Take anything you would normally throw away or put in the recycle bin and make an outfit or an accessory. You can model it yourself, or make something for a friend or a Fairview STAFF MEMBER to wear!

Students will attend a Trashion Fashion assembly during the day, and families are invited to the evening Trashion Show at 7pm in the Fairview Gym. Please use this  google form to sign up to participate. Students will need to bring their items to school on Friday!  Questions? Please reach out to Ms. Wotowiec, plwotowiec@fcpse.edu.

See you on the runway!

Parent Feedback Form for 2022-2023 School Year

Planning is underway for the 2022-2023 school year!  To assist in this process, we would like to give you the opportunity to provide some information about your child.  Your child’s current teachers work as a grade level team in collaboration with specialists to prepare class assignments for the next school year.  Please share characteristics about your child’s learning style or the learning environment in which they learn best.  We ask that you do not list a teacher’s name as staffing changes each year and we will not be able to honor those requests.

A purple form was sent home in your child’s Wednesday Folder on 4/13 if there is anything you would like to share for consideration.  The form can also be accessed hereThe deadline to return the form to the office is Friday, April 29 at COB.
