It was so exciting for our students to have a band and strings spring concert at Louise Archer this past week. We have very talented musicians!

From the Principal's Desk:

Believe it or not, there are only six weeks left until school is out for the summer! So, we are beginning to think about and plan for next school year. As in the past, we welcome your participation as we plan for class assignments. Every class will have a blend of children with diverse needs, personalities, and learning abilities. You have the opportunity to complete an optional “Class Assignment Parent Survey” for the upcoming year. You can access the survey at our Louise Archer website, under the announcements “Class Assignment Parent Survey". Or, you can go directly to the google form here. Just complete the fillable form, submit it, and the information will go directly to me and will be shared with the grade level teachers during the placement process.

Please submit the electronic form no later than May 13, 2022. Late submissions or separate emails will not be considered. Thanks for continuing to have trust in our school and working together to create the most successful environment for your child(ren) at Louise Archer each year!

Announcements

End of Year Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school June 10, 2022.  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your student.  However, with parent or guardian permission, a high school student may transport over-the-counter medications to and from the school health room.

Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services

Junior Optimist Club Drives

The LAES Junior Optimist Club is currently holding a Crayon Drive and a Pull for the House Drive!

Crayon Drive – Do you have old, broken, or unused crayons? Drop them off at school.  We are donating these crayons to a company that will recycle them and make them into new crayons! The paper can be left on your crayons.

Pull for the House – We are collecting pop-tabs and donating them to the Ronald McDonalds House Charities. The Ronald McDonald House recycles the pop-tabs and uses the money to help support programs that ease the hardship of childhood illness on children and their families.

Both drives go until May 27th. All items can be dropped off at the front office.

Opportunities to Engage with Dr. Reid

Our incoming superintendent, Dr. Michelle Reid, is visiting FCPS next week to learn more about our schools and community. During her visit, there will be a special, in-person event for staff, families, and students on Tuesday, May 3, starting at 7 p.m. More details, including how to register and submit questions, will be shared with you directly via email in the coming days.

On Tuesday, May 17, Dr. Reid will join staff, families, and students for a multilingual virtual town hall, starting at 7 p.m. FCPS will share details about this event directly via email.

Tutor.com

Tutor.com is now available to all students to support learning. All FCPS students will have unlimited access to online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost.

Students can connect online any time, and in most subjects for as long as they need. Tutoring is focused instruction provided to students in a one-on-one format through voice or text chat. Tutors will focus on developing students’ strengths and capabilities in reading, mathematics, or other specified subjects. Tutoring services may be accessed before, during, or after school hours and/or on weekends through a link in Schoology.

All tutors must pass a rigorous application process including an extensive background check. No personal information is shared between a student and tutor. All sessions are recorded and transcripts are available for review by teachers and parents/guardians.
