A Note From Mr. Gates

Best wishes to those who are observing Easter, Passover or Ramadan this weekend. We had a fabulous first week back after Spring Break! Students did a great job with stepping right back into the routine and procedures of school.

Third Quarter Progress reports will be sent home with students on Tuesday, April 19. When they arrive, please take a few moments to review the report with your child–celebrating successes and offering encouragement and support in areas in need of improvement. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.

This Friday we will bid farewell to assistant principal, Jessica Peterson. Ms. Peterson has accepted a transfer to Riverside Elementary as an AP. We wish Jessica all the best in her new position and thank her for her contributions to Hollin Meadows and for letting us be a part of her journey.

As always, wishing you a healthy and happy week ahead and thank you for your continued support of all things Hollin Meadows!

Jon Gates

Principal

earth day

Come celebrate Earth Day with Hollin Meadows on Saturday, April 23rd, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This event highlights our strong school-community connections and provides an opportunity for students and alumni, their families, and members of the community to volunteer in the school gardens and grounds in anticipation of the Spring 2022 growing cycle. A few things to note…

  • April 24th is the alternate date for the celebration if it rains on the 23rd
  • The Hollin Meadows Partnership for Outdoor Education will provide lunch, but please bring your water bottles to take advantage of the water stations that will be set up around the school
  • Display tables will include a seedling sale, Arcadia exhibition, PTA swag, and a WeGrow hydroponics demonstration
  • Please bring your wheelbarrows because we need them to move mulch

April is Month of the Military Child

Did you know that more than 14,000 military-connected youth call FCPS home? Join FCPS in celebrating them during Month of the Military Child. On Wednesday, April 20, we encourage everyone to wear purple in recognition of the strength and sacrifices of military-connected youth. Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, a combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Navy blue.
