April is Month of the Military Child
April is around the corner and Sangster is busy planning to Purple Up during the Month of the Military Child. The official day FCPS will be celebrating is Wednesday, April 20. Sangster will also recognize the month with the activities below following Spring Break:
- Service stars display throughout the school honoring our military connections
- Displays and decorations honoring the Month of the Military Child
- Sprit Week 18-20 (more information to come)
- April 20th – Purple UP Day - wear purple to show your support for military kids
- Student Ambassadors present “Facts about Milkids” segment on WHSE weekly news
- Library Book Display

Screening for Levels II-III Advanced Academics Program Services
Students can be screened for school-based (level II-III) AAP services at any time in the school year. In the spring, local schools review data on all students to determine services for the start of the next school year.
Lost & Found
At the end of each quarter items from Sangster’s Lost and Found are donated to charity. Prior to donation, parents and guardians may check Lost and Found for items belonging to their children. This quarter’s Lost and Found items will be made available for parents in front of the school during the week of April 18th from 7:30AM – 5:00PM. Items not claimed by April 22nd will be sent to donation.
Reminder!
Field Day 2022 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19 (rain date Friday, May 27). Students in 1- 6 grades will participate in an hour long, jam packed journey of fun filled games. Please be sure to bring your student to school with plenty of water and pre-applied sunscreen. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities.

Positivity Project
This year, Sangster will continue implementing the Positivity Project(P2). P2 is dedicated to empowering America’s youth to build strong relationships and to understand, appreciate, and exemplify the character strengths in us all. Every 1-2 weeks, students learn about a new character strength.
Positivity Project - April 10, 2022
This week’s character strength is Fairness. This means that you believe that all people have value. You approach situations with an unbiased mindset and treat everyone with respect. For individuals, cultivating the character strength of fairness is correlated with highly desirable developmental outcomes. It helps people to become trustworthy friends and responsible citizens.
