Mrs. Clark’s First Graders have worked hard in our school garden this week. Students collaborated to plan a Salad Garden and worked together to clean, till, and sew seeds into the soil. They even wore their Science hats and wrote down observations and notes in their own notebooks. We can't wait to see how their hard work will pay off!

All County Chorus Watch Party
Hello BBES Community! Each year, the 6th grade choir students can audition for the FCPS All County Chorus Festival. This chorus is a group of 500+ students from elementary schools from across the county that work on various musical selections and then come together in March to perform as a group.
This year, Bonnie Brae Elementary had 6 students chosen to participate in this chorus! For several months, these students have been meeting once a week at 7:30am to learn and practice the songs and they did so with beautiful smiles and enthusiasm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a live audience was not allowed to view the performance. The performance was recorded and is being broadcasted at various times on Channel 21. We are very proud of our Bonnie Brae students and want to highlight their accomplishment!
On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 7:00pm, Miss Warr and Mrs. Oedemann will host a virtual watch party on Zoom for Bonnie Brae families to view the All-County Chorus Festival performance. (Meeting ID: 949 3781 5327 / Passcode: 541821 /Dial by your location: +1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC))
Please feel free to join us using the link above. See you Tuesday!

April: Arab American Heritage Month
FCPS is proud to celebrate National Arab American Heritage Month in April. This special month provides an opportunity to recognize the remarkable history and valuable contributions of Arab Americans.
Arab Americans have ancestry in one of the world’s 22 Arab nations, which are located from northern Africa through western Asia. The people of these nations are ethnically, politically, and religiously diverse but share a common cultural and linguistic heritage. There are approximately 3.7 million Arab Americans in the U.S.

Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Elementary Continuum of Services
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of advanced learners. FCPS offers a continuum of advanced academic services for all students in Grades K-12. The continuum of services approach allows for a focus on matching services rather than labeling students. Please review the AAP Spring Newsletter here (English / Spanish) to learn more about the levels of service as well as find links to referral forms and the AAP website.
Please reach out to Kaitlin Burg at kmburg@fcps.edu with any questions regarding the upcoming AAP spring screening timeline.
BBES Lunch Volunteer Opportunity
We are seeking parent volunteers to support our lunch hours. Lunch starts at 10:45am and ends at 1:30pm. As the weather gets nicer we are looking forward to having some of our volunteers support at some of our outdoor learning spaces as well.
If you are interested in supporting any day(s) of the week on a consistent basis during any portion of our lunch block, please contact Kathy Rials, kerials@fcps.edu.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our students and to continue encouraging safety protocols.
