Welcome back from Spring Break! Our Bulldogs came back into the building this week and jumped right into the swing of learning at high levels and engaging with peers both in the classroom and beyond.
This month is the Month of the Military Child and Autism Acceptance Month. We look forward to celebrating both throughout the rest of April. Specifically, we will "Purple Up" and wear purple next Wednesday, April 20th.
Lastly, last night the Fairfax County School Board voted to appoint Michelle Reid, Ed. D. as the next superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools. Dr. Reid is known regionally and nationally for strong instructional leadership. We welcome her to our Fairfax County community.
We have a lot of events in the upcoming weeks at Bucknell. Please make sure to read this newsletter thoroughly for all important information.

2022 SOL Schedule
 Our 3rd - 6th grade students will be taking the Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments during the month of May. Please take a look at the calendar above to identify when your child will be testing. It is imperative that students are in school on testing days, get a good nights rest, and eat breakfast. If you have any questions, please email your child's teacher.
After-School Clubs
Students received after school club sign-up forms this week and have until Thursday, April 21st to register. Please return the forms to the main office as soon as possible! More forms are available, upon request, in the office.

PTA Creek Clean Up
Come help clean up the Paul Spring Branch creek and White Oaks Park woods behind Bucknell ES on Saturday, April 23 at 10AM to celebrate Earth Day! *All children attending must be accompanied by an adult, 18 or older.* You can register online now! A free gift is available for the first 50 students to register! We will meet at the Bucknell ES Playground. Wear your boots! In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled.

Month of the Military Child
 April is Month of the Military Child - and this month we honor all those in our local community who make sacrifices every day to serve our country. We are asking everyone at Bucknell ES to "Purple Up!" on Wednesday, April 20 in celebration of our FCPS military families: that means wearing as much purple as possible! #PurpleUpBucknell
Autism Acceptance Month
 April is Autism Acceptance Month. One in 44 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States, according to the CDC. Our schools and staff play a vital role in creating and ensuring inclusive environments that accommodate and affirm autistic students.
Tutor.Com Is Now Available
 We are pleased to announce that students now have unlimited access to online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost to families. Tutor.com is available 24/7, through online voice or text chat, and in your student’s preferred language. Student participation is optional and parents/guardians can opt their students out of accessing the service. You can learn more about Tutor.com on the Tutor.com Online Tutoring Services website.
Students will be able to access Tutor.com via a link in Schoology. Additional information about how to log in and access a tutor is provided to families via the following instructional videos:
elementary video and secondary video. Questions not answered in the posted resources may be sent to onlinetutoring@fcps.edu.
This new service will help many Bucknell students complete assignments, better understand classroom lessons, and be successful.
