Volunteers needed for Family Science Night

Volunteer

For the school year 2021-22, ATES is hosting a free event for our students and families courtesy of The Children’s Science Center  www.thechildrenssciencecenter.org. The Mobile Science Lab will bring fun experiments and activities designed to excite our students about science!  It is completely free because we are a Title 1 school, however 30 volunteers are needed to run the activities. Please consider volunteering your time and/or pass this on to someone who’d like to volunteer. Children’s Science Center brings all the materials, displays and activities.  Volunteers just set up, read their volunteer packet (you receive this a week in advance), run the activity table, and go home when finished.

Volunteer Requirements:  Adults (teachers, spouses, friends, community members, etc.) or high school students in grades 11 and 12 (Community service hours given for high school students).

When:  Thursday, May 5th

Place:  Gym @ Annandale Terrace Elementary School

Time:   5:15-7:45 p.m. (This time includes set up/clean up. The actual family program is from 6:00-7:30 p.m.)

RSVP by Friday, April 15th by completing this Volunteer Sign-up Form.   For any questions, please email Cindy Rogers via cindy.rogers@fcps.edu.

Opt-Out Information

Students will be able to access Tutor.com through a link in Schoology beginning mid-April, 2022. Your student will automatically have access to the Tutor.com tutoring service unless you submit an opt-out request. If you do not want your student to have access to this online tutoring resource, complete the opt-out via ParentVUE by April 11, 2022.  Directions for opting out can be found on the Online Tutoring Services website. Get2Green Program

Get2Green hopes to engage all staff and students in fun and engaging ways to recognize FCPS Earth Week 2022, April 18-22. Get2Green is reaching far and wide to be sure teachers know about these resources, as many teachers celebrate Earth Week, and we’d like to offer resources already developed for them

All students and staff are encouraged to join FCPS Get2Green in celebrating our division-wide Earth Week 2022 from April 18-22.  Earth Week is an engaging  way to foster conversation and learning about environmental topics that are essential in developing students as environmental stewards and ethical and global citizens.

Visit the Get2Green Earth Week webpage for this year’s Earth Week “Bingo” boards, daily themes, driving questions, joke of the day, and fun facts. Engage students with FCPS Earth Week Bingo boards for an opportunity  to receive water bottle decals for staff and students.

Students and Staff wear the color matching each day’s theme to show your Earth Week spirit!
