Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Spring Window

FCPS is using the SEL Screener to identify social-emotional learning needs to inform student supports. Information about your student’s fall screener was recently mailed to families. Key Middle School plans to have students take the spring SEL Screener in advisory (third period) on Tuesday, April 19th.  More information can be found on the SEL Screener webpage (https://www.fcps.edu/node/43892).

If you opted your student out in the fall, your child will not be tested in April.


Ramadan

This year Ramadan, the holiest month on the Islamic calendar, begins April 2nd and ends May 1st, 2022.  Students at Key Middle School will be provided with the opportunity to access the prayer room during the school day and flexibility during their lunchtime.  Parents/Students can indicate their preference for prayer/ lunchtime through a google form located in your student’s Schoology account “All School: Key Middle School” 

Family Engagement Survey

Our Family Engagement Survey 2021-22 should have been emailed to you on Sunday, March 13. So please participate! Your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve FCPS’ practices to best support our students. Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and your school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, and better social skills and behavior.

You have the ability to take the survey electronically or by paper copy and submit it by the deadline of April 3, 2022. Nine language translations of the survey are available, including Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. You are able to complete the survey on most electronic devices, including smartphones. We encourage you to use the link sent to your email account first, where able. If you do not have an email address you may access the survey and directly select the desired language at:

VIP

VIP Summer Camp

FCPS in partnership with Neighborhood and Community Services will be hosting VIP Camp (Values in Prevention) at Sandburg Middle School. The camp will be June 29-July28 from 8:00am-4:00pm. The camp will consist of Sports, STEAM Activities, Cooking and several exciting field trips!

There is a $50 VIP Registration Fee that will be collected from camp participants. Students who submit the VIP Camp Registration Form will be notified if they have been accepted into camp. Accepted participants will receive a confirmation email along with further camp instructions. Payment will be due after receiving confirmation of acceptance and no later than Friday, June 3rd. Transportation and lunch will be provided, and sites will be open at 8AM for parent drop off.

Parent Meeting for registered/paid participants will be held on Tuesday June 7th (Time TBD).
