Kindergarten Registration for SY2022-23
We are starting to make preparations for the 2022-23 academic year. Children who will be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2022 are eligible to attend kindergarten next fall. If you have a child who will attend kindergarten at Orange Hunt next school year, and you have not already been in contact with our registrar Lesley Hite, please complete this survey and return it to the school via email to: laakofiohite@fcps.edu
Please spread the word to your neighbors who don’t already have a child at Orange Hunt. Feel free to pass this form along, or have neighbors with rising kindergarteners call the office at 703-913-6800 to be added to our kindergarten mailing list. Registration information will be provided to all families who complete and return this survey. If preferred, you may request a mailed packet of registration forms by calling the office or emailing our registrar.
A child’s record of immunization, physical examination (within 12 months prior to entering kindergarten), proof of residency, and original birth certificate must be submitted when registering the child. For more information regarding kindergarten registration, you may visit the Fairfax County Public Schools’ website at https://www.fcps.edu/registration/general-registration-requirements
The information on this survey will help the school plan for adequate facilities and personnel for the 2022-2023 school year. We thank you in advance for returning the form no later than March 31, 2022.
Our annual Kindergarten Orientation will be scheduled soon and the event will be announced though News We Hoot and on the school website.
Spring Picture Day Is Tuesday, April 12th
It is that time of year for us to put on our finest dress and “Say Cheese”. Did you know, Spring Picture Day helps Orange Hunt ES? This is the time when our picture people take class pictures and individual shots. For every child that smiles for the camera we get $3 for the school. We know that you have many wonderful pictures of your child, but help us out and let them have one more. You do not need to buy the pictures to help OHES. Thank you in advanced for your help and support! Click here to see details to order.

Student Dress Code Reminder
As it looks like the weather is warming up, we want to remind our families to ensure your students are wearing school appropriate clothing. Shirts with sleeves are recommended. Halter, tank, crop tops, and thin-strapped tops are not permitted. Sleeveless athletic jerseys without a t-shirt underneath are not permitted. Pants and shorts need to fit snuggly at the waist. Mid-thigh length or longer shorts and skirts are appropriate for school.
If clothes are in violation of the dress code, parents will be notified and students will be asked to change their clothes. Tops and bottoms must overlap at all times, including when arms are raised. Hats, caps, hoods, and other headwear may not be worn during the school day.
Students need to be aware of shoes on their feet as well. Due to safety reasons, flip flops are not appropriate for students to wear to school. It is encouraged that students wear shoes they can run and play in safely. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our students safe!

Free Online Tutoring
We are excited to share a new resource that will soon be available to all Orange Hunt students to support learning. All FCPS students will have unlimited access to online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost.
Students can connect online any time, and in most subjects for as long as they need. Tutoring is focused instruction provided to students in a one-on-one format through voice or text chat. Tutors will focus on developing students’ strengths and capabilities in reading, mathematics, or other specified subjects. Tutoring services may be accessed before, during, or after school hours and/or on weekends through a link in Schoology.
All tutors must pass a rigorous application process including an extensive background check. No personal information is shared between a student and tutor. All sessions are recorded and transcripts are available for review by teachers and parents/guardians.
Students will automatically have access to the Tutor.com tutoring service unless a parent/guardian submits an opt-out request.
Online Tutoring Services Notice & Opt-Out Forms must be returned by April 11 to opt-out.
