Principal's Message

Dear Shrevewood Families,

FCPS shared information earlier this week about a new resource that will soon be available to all Shrevewood students to support learning. All FCPS students will have unlimited access to online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost.

Students can connect online any time, and in most subjects for as long as they need. Tutoring is focused instruction provided to students in a one-on-one format through voice or text chat. Tutors will focus on developing students’ strengths and capabilities in reading, mathematics, or other specified subjects. Tutoring services may be accessed before, during, or after school hours and/or on weekends through a link in Schoology.

All tutors must pass a rigorous application process including an extensive background check. No personal information is shared between a student and tutor. All sessions are recorded and transcripts are available for review by teachers and parents/guardians.

Students will automatically have access to the Tutor.com tutoring service unless a parent/guardian submits an opt-out request. Watch for an email soon that will include the online tutoring services notice and opt-out information. Additionally, a hard copy form will be sent home with every student.

For additional information, visit our online tutoring services website. As always, please contact us if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Susie Lilburn, Assistant Principal

Read- A- Thon Update

read a thon

Today is the last day for our Read- A- Thon!

Entries for the READ-O competitions and mybooster pledges are open until midnight Friday 25th!

Important Parent Reminders

Pick Up & Drop Off:

Late arrivals:  Please remember to walk your student into the main office and sign them in with the reason for their tardiness.

Early pick-ups:  Should be picked-up prior to 3:30pm as to not disrupt classroom end of day activities and affect the bus traffic.

Communicating During the School Day:

During the school day, please do not text, call or email with your students.  This can be a huge distraction for our students.  If you are in need to communicate with your student, please email your student's teacher or call the main office.

Thank you for helping us ensure all of our students get the most out of their day learning with us.

SOL Schedule

FCPS Family Engagement Survey

On Sunday, March 13, in the afternoon, received an email from Fairfax County Public Schools via K12 Insight regarding FCPS’ Family Engagement Survey. Your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve our practices to best support our students.
Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and your school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, and better social skills and behavior.
FCPS is partnering with independent firm K12 Insight to administer the survey. It will be available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic, Chinese, Urdu, Farsi, and Amharic. Please visit our Family Engagement Survey webpage for more information.  Your voice matters!
