Join us for the 2022 Special Education Conference, Bringing our Inclusive Community Together: Affirming, Assessing, Advancing, held virtually on Saturday, March 26. EHS Musicians Hit a High Note!

Our band students, guided by band director Charlie Mitchell, performed very well at their assessments:

  • Concert Band received a "Superior" rating in sight reading.
  • Wind Ensemble rated “Excellent” by all three judges and received a “Superior” rating in sight reading.
  • Students Ellianna Ong, Breanna Dugan, Ethan Stephan and Andrew Islas qualified to audition for the All-VA Band event on February 26.
  • Congratulations to Andrew Islas who made it into the All-VA Concert Band! 

The Edison Orchestras, led by orchestra director Latoya Lamons, participated in the District Ten Orchestra Assessment: 

  • The Concert Orchestra received ratings of 1 – 1 – 2 – 1, which is an overall Superior rating.
  • The Philharmonia Orchestra received straight superiors 1 – 1 – 1 – 1, with As in all categories except for two.

Finally, Choir students, directed by Anna Cooper, represented us well in their choir assessment performances:

  • Stage Rating: Excellent; Sight-reading Rating: Superior

Treble Choir

  • Stage Rating: Superior; Sight-reading Rating: Superior

NOVA District PTA Reflections Winners

Congratulations to Edison’s two entries to the Northern Virginia District PTA Reflections contest! The theme was "I Will Change the World By..."

  • 1st Place:  James Aiden Riley for Outstanding Interpretation in Film Production
  • 2nd Place:  Spencer Willman received the Award of Excellence for Visual Arts.

Aiden now advances the Virginia (State) level of competition.


Virginia Boys State Conference for Rising Senior Boys

Please contact Mrs. McCree at frmccree@fcps.edu or 703-924-8034 if you are interested in attending the Virginia Boys State conference this summer. The American Legion is looking to interview, and potentially sponsor, at least five (5) male juniors from Edison High School.

Contact Mrs. McCree no later than March 28, 2022. A consent form must be signed by parents/guardians in order for contact information to be shared with the American Legion representative conducting interviews.


Edison Theatre Company Boosters Scholarships

The ETC Boosters are excited to be awarding two scholarships, each in the amount of $500 to eligible graduating seniors.

Completed applications are requested by April 15th and the recipients will be announced at our annual Thespies award night in May.

To be eligible for one of our scholarships the student must: 

Drama
  • Be a current, graduating senior at Edison High School who is in good academic standing. 
  • Have been accepted, or have made an application to, an accredited college, university, technical, vocational, or other accredited educational institution. 
  • Have participated in at least 4 Edison Theatre Company activities during high school (see website for full list of eligible Edison Theatre activities)

2022 Booster Scholarship Application Available Now

  • Must be a current, graduating senior at Edison High School in good academic standing.
  • Must have been accepted, or have made application to, an accredited college, university, technical, vocational, or other accredited educational institution.
  • Must have participated in at least one Virginia High School League (VHSL) sport at the Varsity level at Edison High School for at least one season. Participation in club sports (non-VHSL sports) does not meet the eligibility of this program.
