Terra Centre Updates 03/25/22

Terra Centre Families,

Spring has officially sprung and we have seen an uptick in behaviors at lunch. Please review the following expectations with your children: students are to stay in their seats and raise their hands when they need help.  Students can  go through the lunch line one time for a meal and additional charges incur with each trip through the line. We appreciate your support in modeling appropriate behaviors at lunch!

The end of the third quarter is quickly approaching and that means that spring break is right around the corner! Next week will be a short week due to the 2 hour early release on Thursday, March 31st and there will be no school for students on Friday, April 1st. Spring break is Monday April 4th through Friday, April 8th.

We want to thank our 2nd grade families for a terrific luncheon last week. Our staff are so lucky to have such wonderful families.

Please scroll below for current events, updates, and reminders.

Enjoy your weekend!

6th Grade All County Choral Festival

Congratulations to our 6th Grade All County Choral Festival participants who performed under the baton of Michael Wu, the Artistic Director for the Strathmore Children’s Chorus. We invite the entire community to watch the premier concert on April 12, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Channel 21 broadcast. Congratulation to the students below who represented Terra Centre Elementary School. And a special congratulations to Apryll I. who’s artwork was featured in the concert program! Thank you to our choral directors Mrs. Carla Okouchi and Ms. Vanessa Cuellar for sharing this once in a lifetime experience with our students and the community.

Attendance Matters

Every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after spring break. It’s time to break that cycle. Make sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning. But it’s harder to teach and it’s harder to learn when too many students are absent.

As a friendly reminder, our tardy bell rings at 8:40 a.m. Students that arrive after 8:40 a.m. must be escorted into the building by a parent/guardian. Unexcused tardies can add up quickly, so it is important that your child arrives to school on time to start their day successfully.

Kindergarten Orientation

We are so excited to meet our rising Terra Centre Kindergarten families on Thursday, March 31st!

Please select a time below for your family to visit Terra Centre. Families will use the Kiss and Ride Lane alongside Burke Centre Parkway to drop Kindergartners off. Kindergartners will meet our kindergarten teachers and visit a classroom. Families will park in the main parking lot and enter through the front entrance. Families will have time to register for Kindergarten (we strongly recommend registering ahead of time), talk to a Kindergarten teacher, and tour the school.  At the conclusion of the tour, families will pick up their future TC Tiger from the Kindergarten wing. You will then be brought back to the front to meet some of our specials teachers before leaving.

We are looking forward to meeting our rising TC kinders!
