SEL Screener Coffee Chat

Our K-2nd graders recently participated in the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions (CASEL, 2021). Students used the screener to share about their SEL skills, relationships, school environment, and mood. These factors are critical to positive academic, social, and emotional success.  Student SEL scores were mailed out centrally by FCPS in March.

To help families better understand SEL, the Churchill Road Socio-Emotional Wellness Team has prepared a YouTube video and parent presentation

Please join the CRS administration and wellness team for a virtual Parent Coffee, Tuesday, April 12th,  9:30-10:00 a.m. We will provide you with an overview of the SEL Screener, help you to understand student and school results, as well as address the SEL supports available through Churchill and FCPS, and answer your questions. Please RSVP should you wish to attend via this link:
