Principal's Message

Dear Shrevewood Families,

Our Read-A-Thon is wrapping up the first week. Thank you to all the participating families, so far we have raised $10,000.  We are well on our way to our $15,000 goal.

Shrevewood celebrated Day 2 of our Read-A-Thon with a virtual author visit (see picture above) from Laura Murray! Laura Murray is a local author known for her picture book series The Gingerbread Loose In The School. Students in K-3 had a great time listening to Laura share one of her books and learning all about her writing process. The session ended with an engaging riddle game where students had to guess what part of school the Gingerbread was hiding! Thank you Laura Murray for bringing joy to us Tuesday morning!

Please read our Read-A-Thon update below for a special weekend challenge!

Have a great weekend!

Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Susie Lilburn, Assistant Principal

Read- A- Thon Update

matilda

Wow Shrevewood Family.

Our first week of our Roald Dahl Read-a-thon is almost up. Thank you for your amazing generosity. We passed $10,000 this morning and are on our way to meeting our goal of $15,000 to buy new flexible seating furniture for all the classrooms.

You are all amazing!  But we aren't stopping yet.

This weekend we have a SCRUMDIDDLYUMPTIOUS competition for the students.

The class that has the most donations pledged on www.mybooster.com will win a WHIZZ POPPING prize of having Mr. DeSmyter or Ms. Lilburn teach them!!

Hopefully they will be fun and not like MISS TRUNCHBULL from MATILDA!!

Totals will be taken from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday.

Register your student today.

Our Read-A-thon will run until the 25th March so there is still a whole week for students to earn more prizes by fundraising/reading and completing their bingo cards in class.

Positivity Project: Other People Mindset

What does it look like?
There are many different ways to support others when they struggle. These can include: listening while they describe something that happened and their feelings about it, helping people in need, or simply just being there and sitting together in silence.

Why does it matter?
When we help others we help ourselves! Research shows, people who are
“givers” and help others, lead more meaningful lives. Supporting others when they struggle is an important part of being human. Supporting others in this way leads to a chain reaction of positive behavior that makes us feel good about ourselves and those around us.
