Bulldog Breakdown 3/13 - 3/20

Good Evening Bulldog Families–

I hope that all families are safe and well, and have been enjoying the weekend!

There is a lot of information this week from the county so please make sure you check it out below. Of that, there are two survey: the Family Engagement survey and the Principal Evaluation/Feedback form. Please take the time to fill these out, as they are great ways for us to get information about how to continue to make Westfield an amazing place. Thank you for taking that time.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me with observations, suggestions, questions and celebrations. You can do that through e-mail, call, or  through the form located here: https://forms.gle/4eW9rgPRVBF2a5gd8

Go Bulldogs!

International Night

Bulldog Family!! Westfield will be hosting their annual International Night on Thursday, March 24th from 6PM to 8PM. It will be an exciting event as you will get to learn about the different cultures and ethnicities amongst the students. We will have booths in the cafeteria where people will share information about their country and food will be available. There will also be a Kahoot followed by a fashion show and performances in the auditorium! Bring your friends and family to learn more about your peers!

Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form

This spring all Your School Name parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism. Understanding that this has been another unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback.

The questionnaire will be collected online between March 7 and March 18. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions matter!

FROM FCPS

Topic: Family Engagement Survey

Our Family Engagement Survey is coming to your email the afternoon of Sunday, March 13. Please participate—your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve FCPS’ practices to best support our students.

Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and your school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, and better social skills and behavior.

FCPS is partnering with independent firm K12 Insight to administer the survey, and it will be available in eight languages. For more information, please watch this short video from Superintendent Brabrand and visit the Family Engagement Survey webpage. Your voice matters!

Topic: Albuterol Availability for K-12 Students

Please share the following information with staff and families:

In accordance with the Code of Virginia 22.1-274.2 each school in FCPS will have stock albuterol inhalers and valved holding chambers available to be administered to K-12 students with no known history of asthma who are believed to be having a respiratory emergency.

Stock albuterol inhalers are not to be administered to the following:

  • Students below the age of four
  • Staff
  • Visitors

The stock albuterol inhalers will be administered by school board employees (to include local health department employees assigned to public schools) who have received training in the administration of albuterol inhalers.

Topic: Lightspeed Parent Report on Child’s Device Activity

FCPS has new tools to help parents and guardians know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided by Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, at no cost to families. You may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. If you want more detailed information, sign up for the Internet Use Parent portal and log-in anytime to see more detail about your child’s browsing and “pause” access to the internet during non-school hours. Find out more and sign up for these services on our website.
