Fairfax Family Cemetery Improvement Saturday, March 19th from 8-9am

Neighbors,

Did you know that there is a historical “Fairfax family” cemetery in KPW?

Yes, there is and we will improve it this Saturday morning from 8-9AM

by better landscaping, site improvements and cutting back some overgrown bushes. https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/library_cemeteries/Cemetery.aspx?number=FX044

If we have the volunteers, we may improve the headstones in the cemetery per these standards:

https://cemeteryconservatorsunitedstandards.org/cleaning/

Additionally, based on the number of volunteers to help, we will improve the path to the Lakeside Park – soccer fields by some minor landscaping and maybe adding mulch to the muddy path near the soccer field shed.

You, your family & friends can help support both efforts this Saturday morning, I hope you can participate.

Tools needed includes: 1-2 more wheel barrows – IF we get the mulch from a local tree company, lopers, shears and other bush trimming tools in your garage/shed. Poison ivy is not actively growing (yet) but still can be hazardous, so recommend work gloves, long sleeves and pants.

Details:

Meet at 5306 Richardson Dr.

Saturday, March 19, 8-9AM (only 1 hour of effort).

Students & Scouts – a great opportunity for community support and service hours reporting.

Gold Star & Eagle Scout candidates – are you looking for a project? Let’s get together & plan a project to support our parks and community. UPDATE – we have two Eagle Scout projects in KPW/ Royal Lake ongoing; many more projects are possible!
