PTSA Meeting 

  • Tuesday, March 8 - 7:00 PM in the JMHS Library

Majors to Careers:  Business

  • Thursday, March 10 at 7:00pm hosted by Coalition for College. Exploring majors? Considering studying business? Hear about different viewpoints for studying and working in business. Come with your questions to this interactive panel discussion, and stay for a college fair to explore opportunities at a variety of Coalition schools. Register here

This Week In Advisory

  • Students will get an introduction to Portrait of a Graduate attributes and complete the StudentSurvey Pathways Study.

Academic Advising

  • Counselors are finishing up meeting with their rising seniors this week to select courses for next school year. All student course selections and course change requests must be submitted by March 18. No changes may be made from March 18th - April 15th. After this date, changes may be requested on a space available basis until June 1st for next year’s classes.

Fairfax County Teen Job Fairs

College Planning Night for Sophomores will be held March 14 at 6:30pm in the Auditorium. Additional information will be emailed to sophomore students and their families. 

College Planning Night Part II for Juniors will be held virtually on March 21 at 6:00pm. Additional information will be emailed to junior students and their families.

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be held on March 23, 2022 @ Oakton High School. 

  • The ASVAB is required for military enlistment, but is also a career exploration program that includes an aptitude test and interest assessment to help guide you with careers and jobs that might be of interest to you..
  • This test is a requirement for military enlistment. (Please note that scores are good for 2 years.) For details visit www.asvabprogram.com 
  • Online, free ASVAB testing information is available at www.asvabprogram.com
  • Students in Grades 10-12 MUST register by March 11, 2022 here and you will then get additional details. Transportation will not be provided.

United Airlines Job Opportunities for Seniors

On March 15 @3:15pm virtually for seniors to hear more about openings at Dulles Airport with United Airlines/Swissport. Full-time positions for students (at least 18 years of age) looking for jobs after graduation.

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is offering virtual Information Sessions to FCPS seniors and parents.

Seniors:  Service Learning Hours MUST be entered in x2VOL by April 25, 2022 IF you plan to receive credit and get the black service learning cord to wear at graduation. Info here in Schoology for students and also on the JMHS website here. As a reminder, service hours are NOT a requirement to graduate.
