Principals' Message

Happy Friday CES Community,

Saturday is our big PTA CES Spring Carnival! Our wonderful PTA has planned a wonderful day for us. We hope that many of you come out and engage with us. The festivities will run from 11:00am - 3:00pm. The Book Fair will be open on Saturday as well, if you are interested in purchasing some new books for your student/s.

Immediately following the Spring Carnival and the Book Fair is the Boosterthon. We are very excited to bring this event back to CES. Our goal this year is to raise enough money to purchase a new marquee to replace the old one on Green Trails Boulevard. More information can be found lower in this update. Thank you in advance for your support!

This week we held our annual Tornado Drill. The students did an amazing job with following the routines and expectations to make this drill a success.

We have some old yearbooks leftover from some of our previous years, and would love to give them a good home before they are recycled. Please reach out to Angie Venetsanos (amvenetsanos@fcps.edu) if you would be interested in any of these books.

On Sunday, March 13, in the afternoon, you will receive an email from Fairfax County Public Schools via K12 Insight regarding FCPS’ Family Engagement Survey. Your feedback is critical in helping to inform and improve our practices to best support our students. Taking this survey will also help strengthen the partnership between your family and your school. When that partnership is strong, students can experience a range of benefits including improved school readiness, higher student achievement, and better social skills and behavior. FCPS is partnering with independent firm K12 Insight to administer the survey. It will be available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic, Chinese, Urdu, Farsi, and Amharic. Please visit our Family Engagement Survey webpage for more information and look for the survey in your inbox on March 13. Your voice matters! Fairfax County Public Schools

Have a wonderful weekend!

Summer Opportunities

While the cold weather is still with us, it’s not too early to start planning for the summer! Here are some resources to help you find activities to keep your child(ren) engaged and active. Summer is a great time for children to experience different interests and learning opportunities. Many of these programs offer financial assistance so be sure to ask if there is a need. If you’d like information regarding tutors, please contact us.

Below are a list of teachers at CES who have created an eWallet account for donations to buy books for their classrooms from the book fair.  There will also be a display board of teacher wish lists at the book fair if you don’t see your child’s teacher on this list.  Thank you!
