Katherine Johnson MS - March 4, 2022

Important Upcoming Events

  • March 31- 2 Hour Early Release; End of 3rd Quarter
  • April 1 - Student Holiday (Teacher Workday)
  • April 4-8 - Holiday (Spring Break)

Hello Eagles,

Students and staff experienced our first week with the new mask guidelines, and we are happy to report that our welcoming environment and caring culture were on display honoring mask choices without question. Thank you to families for having those conversations at home to help your child feel comfortable as we change our practices.

While students enjoyed a nice break this Friday, teachers and staff participated in some quality time together in professional development around understanding and implementing equitable practices that positively impact all students. With almost four weeks to go before Spring Break and the end of this grading period approaching, teachers are finding ways to meaningfully connect with students and families to support success through the end of the year.

Finally, Team “Virtual Coffees” are coming soon! With March here and Spring on the way, it’s a good time for KJMS teachers and staff to renew our commitment to provide families an opportunity to communicate with us. Be on the lookout for an email invitation from your child’s Instructional Team with a link to this virtual event. In case you are unable to attend, each team will record the session and post afterward. Teams will present a few important reminders and updates, but the focus of the virtual coffee will be to hear from you as a partner of the Katherine Johnson family. Stay tuned! We look forward to providing this time for all of us to spring forward and finish the year Eagle Strong! Take advantage of the warm and sunny weekend!

Sincerely,

The KJMS Admin. Team

Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us

This spring, all Katherine Johnson Middle School parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism. Understanding that this has been another unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback.

The questionnaire will be collected online between March 7 and March 18. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions matter!

Thank you.
