The Spring Online Bookfair begins Monday! March 14- March 25


Coates is having an Online Book Fair! We are partnering with Scrawl Books of Reston, VA for the Book Fair.  Follow this link to order.

You will be able to purchase both adult and children’s books. Books will be delivered to the school and bundled up for your child to bring home.

Save the Date for SOLs

Save the dates!  Coates will be administering the Virginia Standards of Learning Tests this Spring. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments on your student’s testing days. 

  • 3rd Grade:  Reading on Thursday, May 5th and Math on Thursday, May 12th

  • 4th Grade:  Reading on Wednesday, May 5th and Math on Wednesday, May 18th

  • 5th Grade:  Reading on Tuesday, May 3rd, Science on Tuesday, May 10th, and Math on Tuesday, May 17th

  • 6th Grade:  Reading on Friday, May 6th and Math on Friday, May 13th

Special Education Conference (March 26)

Register Now for the FCPS Virtual Special Education Conference on March 26

FCPS’s 17th Annual Special Education Conference will be held virtually on Saturday, March 26, with a combination of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (recorded) sessions supporting the conference's theme: Bringing our Inclusive Community Together: Affirming, Assessing, Advancing. Welcoming ceremonies, guest speakers, FCPS presentations, and an exhibit hall are included. Registration for this free conference is now open online.

  • Parents and community members will be able to register online.
  • FCPS educators, administrators, and preservice teachers will be able to register online and earn recertification points for attending the conference.
  • Individuals needing foreign language interpretation (Spanish, Amharic, Arabic, and Korean), American Sign Language (ASL), or Cued Language Transliterator (CLT) interpreters for the live sessions may request this on the registration form.
