Institute for The Arts for FREE

If any Cedar Students are on free/reduced lunch, they can get into IFTA for FREE if they sign up asap.  The free slots go quickly, and I want OUR kids to get them.  It’s a creative arts camp, where students can sign up for any class they are interested in and it gives them an intensive experience in that area.  “It’s a TREMENDOUS program, and I want our kids to get slots in the program!”  Contact Ms. McHugh:  abmchugh@fcps.edu for further information.

Link for Free & Reduced Lunch Application here:  https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/food-and-nutrition-programs/free-and-reduced-price-meals

That’s great news b/c it’s historically been over $800 with NO financial aid or sliding scale for F/R meals! Student chose four modules that they’re interested in. But in addition to the arts, a student can choose for one of the modules to be EPF as a hybrid face-to-face credit, and/or one as Health/PE 9. So that makes it an even better deal (free credits), assuming the student is also interested in fine arts!  Contact Ms. Williams for credit information:  KAWilliams1@fcps.edu

2022 Fairfax County Teen Job Fair Series

This year’s fairs will be back in-person at West Springfield High School on March 12th from 1 - 3 p.m. and Chantilly High School on March 19th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

While most job seekers attending the fair are between ages 16 to 18, limited opportunities are sometimes available for students as young as 14. Job opportunities at the fair include full-time, part-time, seasonal, volunteer, and internship opportunities. In addition to job opportunities at the fair, students will also be able to attend a career-building workshop, like a Resume Workshop and Interviewing 101.  The best part of this fair is that it is completely free for students.

For students, you simply register here. There is no requirement to be a resident or student in Fairfax County, although the opportunities at the fair will be based in Fairfax County.  See amveltri@fcps.edu for more information.
