Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Dear Rocky Run Families and Students,

We had a great week at Rocky Run MS!  March definitely came in like a lion with warmer temperatures and a preview of what lies ahead in spring. Our staff continues to be impressed by the caring and respect that students share for one another as we adapt to changes in CDC guidance.  We are grateful for your continued support and grace as we partner to ensure a safe, supportive learning environment for all of our students.

A special shout-out to all of our music groups; band, chorus, and orchestra, who will peform in their assessment concerts over the coming weeks.  We are so proud of their hard work and growth throughout the year and the positive ways in which the students represent Rocky Run MS.

I will be away from the building next week, March 7-11, attending a professional learning conference for school leaders and teachers.  During my absence, Sandra Meador, Student Support Dean, will serve as an acting administrator.  Please reach out to AJ Ries, Administrative Assisstant (ajries@fcps.edu), or any of the members of the administrative team with questions or requests for immediate assistance.

As always, I welcome your feedback, questions and suggestions.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Amy T. Goodloe, Ed.D.

Please note the following important items and feel free to contact your child's School Counselor for any questions.

  • This list is NOT a schedule, but a confirmation of the courses entered into the Student Information System.
  • Music Courses - Students who have signed up for the music courses (Band, Orchestra and Chorus) will initially be placed in the beginner level until auditions and placements have been completed. Please know that music directors will work with counselors to make the appropriate updates.

Student FCPS Laptop Reminders:

Teachers and families have shared that some students are using a variety of technology tools and applications that are not approved by FCPS and can be distractcing in the learning environment. This week we shared with students via Schoology the following reminder:

Gaming, use of Google hangouts, chatting apps, creating additional profiles, and installing add ons to your laptops is a violation of the FCPS Acceptable Use Policy and can result in the loss of your laptop. The use of these items can also result in your laptop not peforming when needed for things like Horizon/eCart and Schoology. Please make sure you are using your FCPS device for school activities only. See Ms. Wilde in the Tech Office if you  need assistance.

Please note that FCPS continually blocks specific programs and apps that are reported.  However, because of the fast pace at which technology changes, we cannot keep up with all of the strategies that students use to access blocked apps and site.  We ask that you talk with your student about using their laptop in accordance with FCPS policies.
